  1. Looking for a turbo to suit my RB20DET. The car is currently running a china T04E and I am sick of having no boost till 4000RPM. I am looking for anything suited to the RB20 engine. Standard R33 turbo would be fine, a TD05 would be perfect, but if you have one sitting around, post up what it is AND THE CONDITION IT IS IN and I will get back to you
  2. Hey Guys, Putting up an expression of interest for this beast. Since I bought it a year ago, I have fixed a few things on it and bought a few parts. Not only that, for NSW people, I have gone through the headache of getting it blue slipped in nsw. Funnily enough, z wife does not want me to sell it as she drives it the majority of the time, but I want to atm due to a shortage of money, moving, renovating, not wanting to lose my license (drive for a living). I have had so much fun in this beast over the last year, a true tough jdm car with the looks and power to match. Never been hassled by the cops, only pulled over once and fined for speeding after opening z gate in front of them..woops! Not asked to pop the bonnet by highway patrol either. Hey guys, i have a 34 Gtt with a built neo, ross 8.5:1 forged pistons, arp head studs etc, I have a set of r35 injectors,z32 and Walbro,power fc, basically all supporting mods but a standard op6 turbo i have the opportunity to buy a new 3076 with .82 rear for 1600 + turbo smart 45 mm gate for 450, I would still have to fab a dump pipe and I would be stuck with my cast manifold A friend from Finland who is fabbing a ti exhaust for my bnr34, has offered to make me a kit comprising of a custom twin scroll dual gate t3 manifold, a 'fullrace' water cooled hx35 with 14cm rear and a v band 3.5" dump pipe for $2100 delivered. My understanding is that the 14cm housing will behave like like a .97 open.. Seems to be a better bang for buck option than the gt3076 route, with a properly designed manifold & dump My goal is 350rwkw and full boost by 4000rpm Do you think this is achievable with the twin scroll holset setup? anyone with experience with the holset's / twin scroll setup's please chime in. thanks for your time gents

So I have recently bought a 30det r32 skyline, but the problem I'm having Is that with the big air intake, the 500 hp fuel pump, the 1000cc injectors, the good ecu, along side the giant fkn garrett turbo that's rated upto 800bhp pushing at 18psi with a nistune set at a 7000rpm limit is only putting out 240kw. Sure it has a good tourqe curve with the 3L block with a 25de head but shouldn't bottom line bhp be more? I'll post some photos of work done on it and photos of engine but please tell me how I can get this to the 400 kw animal it should be
  11. Got it from a friend who bought it from autobacs japan years ago. Hand carried it on the plane home. Stored in for years forgot the specs. I have attached some pictures to id it. I mocked it up against a stock rb25det r33 turbo -compressor housing looks same size -exhaust wheel is bigger than rb25det turbo -this garret turbo is oil cooled only -has a 5 bolt internal wastegate plate (rb20/25 has 6 bolts) with 3 bolt to exhaust dump pipe Compressor markings : > A/R .60 Garrett M10 A.0. 2 >430753-7X Exhaust Markings > DH 3/4 Garrett M4 > A/R 63 or 67 Garrett Plate Markings >14420-15P60 >444008-5 >SC 0125J >Made in Japan Is this a Journal bearing turbo or Ball bearing? would also put this in a r32 rb20det engine.

  13. What turbos am i running?? Hi All, So i am trying to figure out what turbos i have before considering a turbo upgrade for my 1995 R33 GTR. I am not sure whether they are stock or are already upgraded and if so what would be the limits of them as a pair. both turbos generally look the same although some of the information on the tags are different. The details given in the tag for each turbo are as listed below. Turbo 1 - 'Honeywell Garrett' P/N: 707160/5007s S/N: NG 0122J Turbo 2 - 'Garret Allied Signal' MH 0412J 14411 - AA403 707160-7 If someone could clarify what exactly i am running, that would be great as i am new to the turbo world lol. P.s From the research i have done, i think they are GT2860R's... not sure if these are stockies? Cheers

  15. Anyone running a GTX40-series on an RB30 hybrid? Hi everyone, just trying to find out if anyone is running (or knows of someone running) a garret GTX40 series on a hybrid rb30. I did a word search on "GTX" in the dyno thread but that threw up a handful of 35 series with power in the low-mid 400's. Would also be interested in results of any 2JZ's or other I6 3.0s. If you have any links please post them up!

Precision 6870 gen 2 Hey guys I'm new to forum and hope I've put this in right section Has anyone used a precision 6870 on a rb30 and had goood results?I'm thinking of going down the precision path as all I read is great things about the gen 2 range as far as peak power at lower rpm is concerned compared to other comparably sized turbos. Ive always had Garrett turbos and was going to buy the GTX4294 just because the spool time would be a bit better and it predominately a street car. I am chasing about 500-550kw at the treads. Many help would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Opinions for Porting Factory Manifolds to Support Garrett -9s My engine is out and while it's out, I'm pondering how much to port the factory exhaust manifolds. I want good responding characteristics and reliability, and I don't care for top end output. So I get the Garrett -9s and pair them with Tomei Poncam Type A and Tomei dumps. My factory exhaust ports measured at 38mm x 41mm, and I know OEM N1s are 38mm x 47mm. I am thinking just 2mm and make them 38mm x 43mm, so it doesn't lag too much at the low end. I know this is perhaps unnecessary minutia, but I still appreciate your opinions!

  19. I thought I had a boost leak with the sound I could hear for along time but couldn't find it. Lately I have noticed my - 5s have had some smoke when coming to a stop. I don't think it's my valve stem seals as this was all done in my built motor. Turbos have done about 40,000kms at 500hp and now pushing 600 since tune 2 months ago. Do you think I'm on the right track?

Hi all, There have been all kinds of conversations on and off SAU about single turbo options for RBs (and other engines really) in the current state of the game and while I've not seen any evidence of compressor maps being inaccurate, different manufacturers use different ways to normalise and present the numbers, different cut off points, and different ways of estimating hp from compressor flow which can result in people expecting too much or too little from their turbos. I've decided to semi-roughly translate it all into an even measure and shove what I consider "the most relevant" turbos for most people who would be talking about turbo choices in here, and split the compressor flow potential they have at 20psi, 25psi and 30psi - using "65% compressor efficiency" as a cut off. Those are fairly familiar and reasonable reference points, and as you exceed 65% I view it that it's where the intercooler and hotside are starting to have to carry disproportionately more of the load to keep things happier. This is the "you're pushing it" zone, imho - even if it's not really maxing the turbo out. It seems to be a reasonable way of gauging them on a similar scale if you're going to being matching the turbos for real world performance. It may not be PERFECT but I think it gives enough of an idea of how they may compare, I'm pretty sure all these turbos have hot side options which are pretty close to supporting the exhaust flow needed these days - give or take, but some of the numbers here may explain a few interesting things seen.. OK guys I dont have much experience with RB26 being from the states so Im hoping my English speaking cousins from down under might be able to help me out. lol Im coming from a single turbo 2J(GTX3582R) car over to my R32 Skyline. Ive been doing my research on turbo selection and Its hard to decifer the BS("I think" or "it should be") from the facts. Also a lot of different factors to consider will change the outcome. After watching Motive's Single vs Twin video Ive pretty much decided on single. I like single turbo setups and working on the twins just sucks! My choices are between GTX3076R or the GTX3582R. Then we got t3 or t4 and divided or undivided. Then to add even more options we have the A/R. Thats 18 different combinations to choose from!!! GTX3076R T3 GTX3076R T4 .63 Undivided only .63 Undivided only .78 Undivided & Divided .82 Undivided only 1.06 Undivided & Divided 1.06 Undivided only GTX3582R T3 GTX3582R T4 .78 T3 Undivided & Divided .63 Undivided only .82 T3 Undivided & Divided .82 Undivided only 1.06 T3 Undivided & Divided 1.06 Undivided & Divided I realize the GTX3076R is smaller than what most would consider. But I used a GTX3582R 1.06 Divided T4 on my 2JZ and though the lag wasnt bad I would like my Skyline to be a little more responsive. So Im thinking a higher flowing(t4 big a/r) 3076 or lower flowing(t3 low a/r) 3582 might be the way to go?? If that makes any sense. But keep in mind I dont want to much back pressure and extra stress on the engine. I will be using 91 octane pump gas. At around 20ish psi. I would like to run higher but California pump gas is terrible. And Im hoping to get around 330kw-370kw to the wheels. I will never be using race gas or E85, so I will probably never see anything over 20-22psi. I think I should cross off all the 3076 T3 turbos along with the 3582 T4 turbos. Is that a good place to start?
  22. Hey guys, I d like to ask for advice... My newly bought skyline running perfectly on 7 psi but if i raise the boost to 10 psi it cuts out at 6000 rpm and i just cannot tune it out.... when the engine is hot its getting worse (5500rpm)... I connected a smoke machine to check for leaks...I marked the blocked pipes with red X....the smoke is immediately (at low pressure) coming out from the crankcase and from the inlet manifold... It just doesn`t make sense to me how can it smokes from the engine when everything is blocked... Is my turbo leaking through the bearing housing back to exhaust and through the open valves comes out at the inlet? Or is it normal? Any idea? I m kind of getting hopeless for now maybe just i m the dumb and cannot tune it out (datalogit power fc, Z32 maf)... pls don`t spare me everything helps, have a good one
  23. Recommend me a turbo/cam setup- RB25 Hi all, I'm hoping someone can save me the money on spending on a new setup that doesn't meet my needs. I've currently got about 330kw with an old garret 3080 0.82 housing through a built RB25 on E85. I'm running 25psi currently and would like to upgrade cams and springs, thinking while I'm there to do turbo, manifold, gates etc. I'm looking for about 450kw give or take, preferably give.. So far im thinking of either a 6466 or a gtx3584rs? When it comes to cams, I don't mind losing the VCT if its more beneficial to do so. I don't really have a cam selection in mind. Everyone loves that lumpy idle but am unsure of what to get. Currently the car is only used a handful of times a month. Mainly drag use/roll racing with some street driving (not daily driver). Just looking for advice, maybe from people who have gone down a similar path or someone who can guide me in the right direction. Cheers
  24. Hi all i have a stock rb25 neo for road use. I'm considering my turbo options, current spec is gtr 570cc injectors, hks 2530, power fc, intercooler and the usual bolt on stuff ive had plenty of skylines and silvias but never had anything top mounted so I think it's time i have not got massive power figures on my agenda, but response and solid boost while not pushing the neo to hard. I've narrowed it to the gen2 5558 precision or the gtx3076 gen2, any opinions ? i will either use 6 boost, sinco or a CRG manifold, v band likely and need advice on a wastegate too, is 40mm enough? It will run 98ron and I have a r35 gtr afm which I hope will cope ? thanks
  25. Hello, I am thinking of upgrading my fuel system to E85 and wonder what sort of power I will get with my -5 garrets? I have to upgrade my injectors anyway to push these turbos further on 98 but will I get much more power going to e85? Thanks
