  1. Hi all, I've got an aftermarket immobiliser in my R34 GTT that has all the usual features like keyless entry, turbo timer etc. I've had it for several years. I've been having a sporadic but severe issue with the car over the past couple of days: I sometimes cannot disarm the immobiliser at all. The alarm light (the little blinking led) goes dead and it doesn't react to remote in any way. I also cannot start the car with the Nissan key, it doesn't even crank. I also had the car stall on me once when stationary, which is pretty annoying in an auto. Again it wouldn't deimmobilise straight away but I finally got it going. I think my battery was on it's way out anyway so I bought and installed a brand new battery today, with slightly higher capacity too. I drove the car for a bit after installing it and it cranked really well. However, when I tried to start it the second time later on, same thing again - the alarm light was dead and I couldn't disarm it. I disconnected the new battery again, let it sit for half an hour or so, and managed to get it going. So I have ruled out the battery now and my multimeter is reporting 14V+ voltage at the battery terminals when the car is running, so it shouldn't be the alternator either. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this further? What else should I check? Is it possible that a bad/old battery could have fried the alarm somehow when it was running out of current? Also can anyone recommend a good auto elec in the inner or northern subs who knows Skylines well? Thanks guys.
  2. I found an old thread to do with alarm installers in Vic below, and would like to know who is still in the trade and doing good work or whether there are any new highly recommended alarm installers in the Melbourne area. Who are people now using now, preferably mobile, experienced with Australian Standards, multiple immobiliser point alarm systems. It can be supply and install or install only. I am thinking m60 or m80 Mongoose, or similar. I have used Doug- Eastside installs years ago and he was good however I don't think he does it anymore. User Feedback welcomed. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/115302-good-alarm-installers/
  3. Hi, would appreciate any advice on resetting immobiliser system for my 2004 M35 Stagea (VQ35 engine). The story so far: - battery was flat 2 weeks( missus did not bother starting the car while away. - recharged battery, engine would crank, not fire. - RAC attempted to fix , removed battery leads and connected, no go. - towed to a Nissan dealer, waited 4 days for them to tell me they need codes to reset immobiliser, codes supplied by Nissan Aust (for Maxima)did not work. Had one suggestion the code may need to come from Nissan Japan. Anyone, please? Bruce
  4. Hi guys, wondering if anyone knows any reputable places in Melbourne that would be able to fit an alarm system/immobiliser/gps tracking in my 34? Had a look through some other threads and couldn't find any that give names of places in vic. Thanks
  5. Hi, my partner has lost his keys to his V35. What was thought to be a simple new key/reprogramming solution, has fast become a bit of a nightmare lol. It's got an aftermarket security system and apexi tuning system attached. Anyone know who to call or where to start?
  6. Hi, I’m looking for alarm and immobiliser suggestions for my r33 preferably with central locking as my car doesn’t have that rn. And also would the installation process be easy enough for a beginner like me? Or would it be strongly advised to go to an auto electrician to do it. Thanks
  7. Hi. About 12 months ago i purchased a 2001 Toyota townace that was fitted with the mongoose m60 immobiliser unit. The unit was working okay for around 6 months with the only exception being the passenger side door wouldn't lock/unlock via the remote. This had no effect on the start up of the car. I lost the original key to the car and as this was a second vehicle of mine i didnt get a locksmith to cut a new key straight away and the car sat in the driveway for around 3 months before I eventually had a locksmith come and cut a key. The battery went flat in this period of time but after he cut the key all it needed wad a jumpstart and the car was working again.. until I reached first destination and switched car off when I began having issues with the car starting (engine would crank but felt as though fuel pump wasn't allowing car to properly start) After a jumpstart again, car started and I drove home without any issue. Following day I couldn't start car at all and for next week I drained battery trying to get the engine to keep running after startup. Called locksmith who insisted over phone that my battery needed replacing. Put battery charger on overnight and cat started & drove a couple times the next day before car wouldn't restart 20km away from home. Drained battery again trying to turn car over before Replacing battery, terminals etc. And now the engine won't even crank yet electrics work fine. Eventually towed it home with straps and even roll start attempts would prove that immobiliser must be the issue and I'm guessing that replacing battery may have caused engine to not even crank after doing so. The car was sold to me with the mongoose info / manual but no pin code to be found. Contacted previous owner before the last owner and found nothing. My question is am I better off removing the mongoose immobiliser/alarm system altogether? And if so how?
  8. Car won't start. Immobiliser problem? So last night I drove to my gym at about 10pm and everything was running perfectly. Haven't had any dramas like this before. As I went to leave the gym and turn on my car, I found it wouldn't even remotely turn over. Now I have an immobiliser in my 03 V35. Have no idea if its stock or not. Basically when I turn my key so far it makes a constant clicking noise until I depress my immobiliser button and then all the dash lights and eveything works and then that allows me to start the car. However, last night it wouldn't even do that. I turn the key and nothing happens. No clicking noise or anything and I can't disable the immobiliser. I tried to do a little research and I've seen people with some similar issues but not the same. It's not the transponder in my key because I replaced that a few months ago as I lost it.. the central locking etc still works. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Is it the immobiliser or something else?
  9. I left an interior light on in my R33 which unfortunately drained my month old battery completely. I've jump started it a hundred times before on my old battery as it died every few days, but this time I was careless and hooked up the wrong cables on the jump pack (black-red, red-black instead of black-black, red-red). I recognised this error after my jump pack started beeping at me, so I swapped the cables around, jump started it, and took it for a drive. When I turned it off, the car just kept running. All electronics and the turbo timer was shut off but the engine continued to run. Since then, I've had to use my fuel pump kill switch to turn my car off. I checked all my fuses (bonnet, cabin, boot) and none appear to be blown. Something else I've noticed is that my central locking using my remote still works, but the immobiliser "beep" doesn't sound anymore when I lock and unlock my car. I disconnected the battery for an hour yesterday but it didn't seem to help, so I pulled the battery out completely and have put it on a charger to pump it right up. Do you guys have any ideas my engine might not be switching off when I turn the rest of the car off? Unfortunately Google and search hasn't helped much this time around.
