  2. Hi Guys n Girls, If someone could answer this question, then the WTB might be useless. Can a lower + upper intake manifold from a vq25 bolt onto a vq30? then to continue onward, to answer my own question id like to get my hands on a lower/upper vq25 intake manifold. Either to borrow (haha) or to buy very cheaply. Anyway, if you can help, let me know cheers.

As the title states, i'm looking to buy a complete rb26 head to build a 26/30. must be in good condition and come with all covers, also after a standard intake side to suit and the engine loom. don't want or need the exhaust side.   6. Hey Guys, Well my week before Xmas is shaping up to be worse and worse. Today its my car. It has started to make a very loud industrial sounding vacumm cleaner noise shall we say... lol. And it seems to be completely insync with when the turbo would spool. Initially I thought its a intake restriction (maybe a door/flap not opening any more) but now I am getting even more paranoid that its the turbo that has shat itself. So my car has always made a turbo spool up noise since I bought it 2+ years ago in Aug 2010. Initially I thought "oh no... I have a fried turbo". But later I found info online that this is the normal operating noise of the VQ25DET turbo setup. I hope to this day that is true. Either way the car has always behaved well in accelerating and never missed a beat and no smoke or anything. A1. I will attach before and after sound bites I have taken. Good thing I have the "before" on hand still. My car is completely stock with exception of a HDi front mount intercooler I installed my self. I checked today the intake fitting as best I could without taking the bumper and reobar off and all looks ok. Although I did notice there is a small coolant leak on the car LHS. So today was driving home with wife and kid. I had the aircon cranked up to max as it was 30*C outside at the time. I was on a uphill slope sitting at the traffic lights. They went green and I floored it to beat the other off the line with the car locked down into 1st gear in sequential mode. Acceleration was poor but jsut thought that's the usual for having aircon on. Then at the next set of light with only a slight uphill this time acceleration was poor once again which I thought was strange AND THEN... I hear this very loud unusual sound. Best way I can describe it is like a vacuum cleaner. Or a wurring sound but not really a siren sound. My immediate impression was that the lack of acceleration was due to a choking engine from restricted intake. If the car is rolling or not accelerating you dont hear the sound but apply a little to max gas pedal (another words make the turbo kick in) then the sound is very strong a loud to hear. I stopped at a servo to check ECU fault codes as I had a similar thing on a subaru legacy when if I accelerated in a too higher gear like 4th uphill, the ECU would sense the turbo boost not rising quick enough and go into safe/limp home mode. To fix that I would reset the ECU and all fixed. Anyway back to the stagea and the check engine light was giving me 4 groups of 10 flashes, another words 0000 - no fault. I reset the ECU anyway while in diagnostic check mode. All this did was now make the engine run rough as shit at idle now with a tapping noise going on in the intake manifold area but got better over time. I then decided after mucking around in the engine bay for a while to limp it home very carefully (hoping I have not made things worse - but now maybe good excuse to upgrade? - lol). The limp home helped idle as the ECU seems to have relearnt the air/fuel mixture I guess. So I am posting this for advice or help. Listen to the attached sound files of before and after and let me know what you thoughts are. Is my turbo sounding fried? Or is it something thats probably stuck shut on intake or needs reset? Love to hear any kind of feedback as tomorrow first thing now I need to get this car sorted before the Xmas period. Thanks in advance, Paul.   8. Metal Intake Pupe to suit 34 GTT Wtb: metal intake pipe from turbo to Maf to suit r34 GTT. I been looking at the silicon ones but it just won't go with the engine bay design I'm after.   9. Did I install my pod filter correctly? Hi, I've just done my first ever mod on a car (a little one, but still lol). But seeing as its my first mod I want to make sure that its done correctly.. or at least good enough. So I read a few posts and it seems like the hose that runs parallel to the airbox isn't important? so I just unplugged it up near the top of the engine (pic 3) Is it fine to leave it like that? or should I have done something else? Also I've only ziptied the pod filter because it was really floppy. Thanks
  10. Hi I need one of these brackets if anyone has one for sale. It's the bracket that attaches to the side of motor on the exhaust manifold side. Holds up part of the intercooler piping. Thanks
  11. Rebuilt RB25DET Lets skip to the juicy bit, this is my head after max 2km of testing, not running well before, thought valves may be the issue but they seem ok. Comp is at 140 (I know it's low) this is the intake side, no soot anywhere else, just in this one spot what the fk could've caused it? thanks Marni
  12. Gaskets and Hoses Under Plenum Q's So my intake gasket is leaking like crazy on the #3 runner so I'm going to do the replacement with metal gaskets. I'm wondering though, since I'm in there what other gaskets and hoses should I replace while I'm in there since it's not a quick job? Also what other gaskets will I need since I know I have to remove stuff from the plenum? I'd like to have a list so I can have everything I get this done in a day
  13. Hey guys, I'm going to be replacing the turbo on my RB25, and was wondering if I could use the stock intake pipe even though the new turbo has a 3in inlet? It's my understanding that the stock turbo's inlet is 2.5in, yeah? I was thinking of using a 3" > 2.5" coupler directly on the turbo, then using a small piece of 2.5" s/steel pipe to connect that coupler to the stock intake pipe. Thoughts? Before anyone says it, I know I should just replace the intake with a 3" intake, especially if said intake was metal. However, I'm working to a VERY strict budget and just need to know if this will work (until I can afford to do it properly) and if there would be any issues. Thanks in advance.

Hey Guys and Girls want your opinion on cold air intake for r33 i'm thinking of two options for cold air intake opinion one set up like this but if i set up like this i'm pretty sure it will be classified as an illegal mod or pod filter in an enclosed box and running a pipe underneath which do you reckon will be better
  15. Hi i am about to take out the standard plenum to update some old heater hoses under it. In doing so I thought it might be a good idea in replacing it. Will going to a greddy plenum improve my engine at all?
  16. Hi guys, does anyone know the different angles of the throttle butterfly valve with respect to the rpm range of the engine? I also need to know the air flow rate with respect to the rpm of the engine. The engine must be a rb25det, preferably running with stock turbo, stock boost and stock intake manifold. I know most of the info can be obtained by consult software like Ecutalk, but I don't have access to a consult cable. I need the info for some CFD work. Any help would be much appreciated! Sam
  17. hi, cleaning out my garage and this is a bunch of bits and bobs ive had left over after owning GTR's for 5 years. was keeping them as spares etc, but car is gone, no longer need them. Most are off a R34 GTR. but alot of them fit r32 r33 and gtst skylines etc. R34 GTR factory suspension/coil overs $200 ono (good for spares incase of yellow) GTR factory front camber arms $50 R33/R34 factory washer bottle $10 R34 GTR front and side indicators $30 for both pairs (including bulbs) R32/R33 single coil pack $20 (used as spare to diagnose problems etc) GTR rb26 front left+right intercooler piping $20 each GTR rb26 air intake pipe $15 Rb26 heater/coolant hoses $20 the lot GTR rb26 factory air snorkal $20 (rare to find) high pressure rad/factory rad/oil/ caps $5 (lol) It felt like a shame to through this stuff out.   18. Hey guys & gals, this is my first post A little bit about myself before I get started. I'm 16, soon to be 17 and provisionally licensed. Looking at a R32 GTS-T as a first car. I've been surrounded by cars since I was born (Grandparents into rodding) so I do know how cars work, how engines work, suspension, brakes, upgrades etc. However, I saw these images on a previous thread and they caught my attention. Due to the amount of controversy about RB20 intake manifolds and low torque due to shorter runners etc, these images really had me interested. If anyone could shed some light on the process of doing this, how hard, what is needed, if it's even worth it? That would be very very much appreciated.

  21. Heya Im looking at buying a new pod filter for my R34 RB25DET Neo. Last owner had a DRiFT one in there. I want to get the APEXi Power Intake pod filter but I've heard there's alot of fake ones out there on the market (ebay). So I want to make sure that I'm buying the official one and not the fake one. I saw some ones on ebay from china, philippines for like less than $40, so that to me sounds like fake.   22. Hey guys, hope you’re all good. I have an obnoxious sounding vacuum leak somewhere under my throttle body. It’s very bad and throws out the car terribly, so it’s off the road and I’m addressing ASAP. There is no issue around the TB itself and I don’t see any kind of issue around the fuel rail or injector seats, so I’m assuming it may actually be either the upper plenum gasket, the lower inlet manifold gasket, or perhaps an idle control hose underneath the manifold somewhere. To the point of my thread - if I can not locate any obvious leak, I will be pulling off the intake to replace the gaskets. Should I get so far as to pulling off the lower intake, I was just wondering if anyone had tips or advice to share? Specifically regarding how and what to disconnect in regards to coolant hoses, vacuum hoses, etc, and if there are any tricks to any of the bolts? Ive searched extensively on this topic but most threads only cover the upper plenum and I’m looking for any general helpful tips to removing the whole thing. So far my plan is to remove the TB, the fuel rail, then upper plenum - raise the front of the car up and just see what I can attack from the bottom. Assume that’s the best method? Thanks in advance!
  23. So i did a spark plug change so i had to take my top intake off, so i accidentally swapped 2 vacuum hoses around and i noticed because the car had no power, now i changed them back and now the car feels like it has no top end power anymore. I mixed up hose 10 and hose 3 in the picture
  24. So I'm looking at switching up my Intake setup due to an aftermarket turbo manifold. Here are my specs before you tell me to spend my money elsewhere or to buy a 25 Yada Yada: Hybrid Performance Turbo Manifold GCG high flowed RB25 turbo GTR Injectors (444cc I believe) Z32 AFM Nistune So, the problem I face is with the standard J Pipe, the exhaust manifold is about an inch from the J Pipe elbow (refer to picture) and this causes concern for Intake Temps. So instead of heat wrapping and shielding and all that, a buddy has a full RB26 intake setup that he said he'd give me if I want it. My main question is if I buy this OtakuGarage adapter plate, what issues will I face? My thinking is that it'll make the intercooler piping shorter, and not run over the exhaust which could heat up my Intake Temps. I'm looking for answers and solutions, not hate on RB20s. Thanks in advance!
