  1. Hi Guys, Owned my first skyline for 4 months now, Its an r32 gts-t with an rb20det (all stock) with 206xxxkm's on it. Since the most recent oil change, it's developed an engine clatter from around 3000rpm and up. Most noticeable when I rev it to 3000, hold it there, and pulse it up and down from 2800 to 3200, clatter is loudest on liftoff, but not sure if thats just because there are less noises to compete with. I got out the mechanics stethoscope and hunted around, the noises seem to be coming from the top end, but I cant seem to pin point it any better than that. the oil I put in was the same as the oil I took out (Shell HX7 10W40 - was crazy cheap on special for fathers day haha) Wondering if anybody has had a similar problem, from reading around I have read some similar but not quite the same stories where people said it was blocked oil galleries, or big end bearing going (hope not!!) Something of note - the noise doesnt happen at all when its cold to half warmed up, doesnt develop til its bene running enough to be properly warmed up and hot. - maybe I can get away with a thicker oil to solve the problem? seems a bit bandaidish.. Anybody have any suggestions for me?
  2. Hi guys, Does anyone know if the RB26 N1 Blocks have smaller restricted oil galleries? I've searched around the web and also this forum but can't seem to find any definitive information on this (Maybe I suck at searching?). Wiki page states: But this statement does not provide any sources and is pretty vague. On another forum it was reported that: But following that claim, the person who had the N1 block actually measured the oil gallery from the top of the block at 2mm. So are the oil galleries really smaller on the N1 block or not? Is it restricted down inside the block but opened up at the top to match all head gaskets? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
  3. Hi everyone, I'm currently in the process of building my RB25 Neo. I've read the entire oil control thread and have been implementing all the recommendations. I'm wanting to enlarge the 5 oil return holes in the head and block from 8 mm to ~9-10 mm. I found when aligning the headgasket using the dowels to the underside of the head, that the 5 oil return holes line up perfectly. It's just a matter of opening up the existing holes. Not too difficult. However, when sitting the headgasket (again aligned with the dowels) on to the block the 5 oil returns are all completely off centre (see picture below). If I were to enlarge the exisiting holes much more, they would protrude under the gasket. I have a spare R33 RB25 block, and it's the same thing. I also check using the original headgasket and it's the same. I thought the idea was to align the drill with the existing hole (on a mill or I've even read people doing it by hand) and enlarge it to 10mm to match the headgasket. Am I missing something? Any help or info would be super appreciated! 🙂
