  1. I have a 500hp r34 gtr and I guess its time to upgrade the oil pump gears to something stronger that can handle rev limiter and shock. I've been looking for billet gears and came over the plazmaman gears for about $380, but then I saw Reimax had some Chromoly steel gears for about $250 parts number: 15110-AAR11-81. How is the strenght on these? Anyone heard about these shattering? Is chromoly steel as strong as billet? I have the oem 05u oil pump so the 81mm should fit?
  2. I got sick of my oil pressure reading very low when warm (0 to .5 on the factory guage) so i decided to replace the sensor. You will need an open ended 17 mm spanner and you will need to undo a hose clamp (mine was a small socket to undo) this side of the engine bay. undo the bottom fuel line hose clamp and slide it off (it is the return line so there is no pressure in this line but some fuel will dribble out so be careful) this is the fuel pressure sensor about 20 cm below the fuel line hopefully you can see it in focus down there with a rubber gromet over the plug on the left hand end of it. this is what the plug looks like with the grommet pulled back. fairly easy to remove. you need to get a 17mm open ended spanner on the sensor to undo it. this is the new sensor i bought off ebay from nissan of chesapeake in usa. it cost me $95 delivered here. and this is the end result. a good oil pressure reading in the cluster guage. may not be highly accurate but it would certainly be able to warn you of a problem before it does too much damage.
  3. Hi, I am after a r32 gtr but have heard that the models before 1993/94 had oil delivery problems. Are they still ok to buy or should I stick to these years? Any help would be much appreciated as I am new to the gtr world thanks

  7. Hey guys, So i'm planning on purchasing an oil filter relocation kit. I have seen the trust/greddy ones going around but am unsure on the quality of them as the fittings they use on the hoses are hose clamp fittings as apposed to JIC (better seal, and have been told to use if i can) and the plate/adapter that goes where your oil filter is, screws on like a filter and i have heard these apparently leak?. Just after any experiences you guys have had with these kits or any recomendations on any particular kits.   8. RB26dETT Team, I currently have an N1 oil pump, but understand that they can be unreliable in an RB26DETT. Are the Tomie Oil Pumps still the way to go for an RB26DETT as per previous threads? The engine is out. Should I upgrade? Thanks. JB
  9. Hi everyone . I'm so new to all of this. sorry for the noob post but I've recently bought an R34 and I have no idea what this thing is: It sits next to the air intake pipe. Seems like theres oil inside of it when I open it up. Could this be the oil that cools down the turbo? :s Im curious to know because I got my oil changed at a service station but do I need to change this aswell?

  11. Filling transmission oil through gearstick? So after having to cut off the boot that goes on the bottom of the shifter (previous owner didnt use a circlip instead used a hose clamp and tightened it with hulk hands) I'm now stuck as to what to do next. I cant change the fluid through the actual transmission because the filler plug has been tightened by hercules. What do I do next to fill the transmission oil? And does anyone have the part number for the boot that goes on the bottom there?
  12. Oil/Coolant substance in Engine Harness If it's not one thing after another. So as I was removing my alternator due to an issue with receiving 18v from my charging system, a puddle of what appeared to be a oil/coolant mix formed next to my head on the floor. Now my car hasn't moved since Aug 12th due to a broken leg (only pulled it forward 8ft out of the garage once after disconnecting the alternator to hang ceiling racks and check voltage). This substance was legit pouring out of a connector (engine harness side not the power steering line) plugged into a power steering hard line directly under the alternator. Any ideas/suggestions as to what could be causing this? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks gents!

  14. Oil Catch Can Discussion Hey guys, I know this topic has probably been beaten to death, but the more I look into a catch can the more confusing it gets. It seems like most people are afraid to vent the catch can to the atmosphere. Is it because people don't want to get into trouble for the environmental aspects, or are they afraid that the crank case won't be able to vent adequately without vacuum being pulled on the system? I found a picture from speed hunters of a car that seems to be venting out of a oil separator to the atmosphere with no catch can at all. Has anyone ever seen this done, or have any opinions on the viability of this set up. I am currently trying to come up with a catch can solution, and as I am sure you all know space is a premium under the hood of a gtr without having to relocate the battery etc. Any opinions on this set up, or a good mounting location for a catch can? Thanks.
  15. Intermittent Oil light flash In the last week or so my car has developed a new behavior where it randomly flashes the oil light while driving. Seems to become more frequent if driving hard and I am getting engine cut outs as well. It started happening about the time I unblocked my pcv valve but I know it needs rocker cover gaskets as well which are on their way now. I have yet to see what condition the turbo is in and could possibly be leaking oil from that section. Has anyone had issues with their car after unblocking the pcv system?
  16. Oil lines below battery? Can anyone tell me what are the 2 oil lines that are beneath the battery? They combine in front of the condenser into a small single tube with fins to cool down, but not sure where they originate from. Mine have some oil buildup and looking to replace them or at least the soft parts.

Hi all This should be really be in "do you know what grinds my gears" Every time I go to the auto shop all I see is that every brand claims to be the best, and that really really I mean really gets up my skin..... To the point I wanted to buy the oil and start doing testing... myself at own cost but that’s expensive 1. test I will one day do is a heat test... take 0.25ltr of oil put on lab stove at 300c see how long it take to turn into sludge test are very expensive so that’s why oil company do them but no one shows their Competitors showing a test thats said our oil gives you 20hp extra then competitor 1 competitor 2 or 3 to me comp1 could be home brand olive oil and comp2 coles brand motor oil you get me anyway I gotta cool down just writing this made me have 180 over 120 blood pressure Enjoy the link. taken me a long time to find, some oils are outdated but it’s the best i got if you have any independent tests that you got your sticky hands on please share http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdf
  18. Hey guys is it okay if i use the penrite 10w - 40 racing10 %100 PAO ester Synthetic ? its a non turbo skyline r34 rb25de neo? just confused about these synthethic stuff lol and which is safe to use. semi? full? or pao/ester synthetic? Any advice would be helpful. thanks guys
  19. Hi Guys, Owned my first skyline for 4 months now, Its an r32 gts-t with an rb20det (all stock) with 206xxxkm's on it. Since the most recent oil change, it's developed an engine clatter from around 3000rpm and up. Most noticeable when I rev it to 3000, hold it there, and pulse it up and down from 2800 to 3200, clatter is loudest on liftoff, but not sure if thats just because there are less noises to compete with. I got out the mechanics stethoscope and hunted around, the noises seem to be coming from the top end, but I cant seem to pin point it any better than that. the oil I put in was the same as the oil I took out (Shell HX7 10W40 - was crazy cheap on special for fathers day haha) Wondering if anybody has had a similar problem, from reading around I have read some similar but not quite the same stories where people said it was blocked oil galleries, or big end bearing going (hope not!!) Something of note - the noise doesnt happen at all when its cold to half warmed up, doesnt develop til its bene running enough to be properly warmed up and hot. - maybe I can get away with a thicker oil to solve the problem? seems a bit bandaidish.. Anybody have any suggestions for me?

  22. Hello everyone! After stupidly having my Gt-r sitting in the garage doing nothing for about 2-3 years I’ve tried to give it a run. I changed the oil and oil filter and tried turning it over with no success (surprise surprise). My battery is fine and it’s got fresh fuel. As I turn it over I don’t get any oil pressure on the gauge, is that expected? Will I only get pressure once it starts? Bit of a noob tbh. I’ve read that the gtr oil pressure sensors are dodge city, could that be stopping it from starting? Im going to check for spark but I’m worried it’s full of sludge. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good mechanic in Sydney’s south? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
  23. Hey everyone, noobie question. if I get an AWD Rb25de for my RWD R33, I will need to modify the sump on the engine. I did research online and can’t find much however I do know I have to weld up the front axle holes in the sump.. is that all? Or is there an adapter plate I can just buy to bolt the rwd sump onto the engine with a AWD bolt pattern? Cheers everyone
  24. Bad piston rings or damaged cylinder walls? Recently, I opened a discussion on my excessive oil burning that my rb25det does and thanks to the help of many enthusiasts we concluded that it is bad piston rings or a damaged cylinder wall... or can it be both? Engine had a full upgraded rebuilt 6 months ago with it being bored over .020 over. It has been driven 1000 miles or 1609 kilometers since I have compression tested all my cylinders and it showed a psi of 50-70psi. When I did a wet test it shot up to 120-135psi My rb25det has a 1.5 cosworth head gasket so compression will be lower than normal My hopeful prediction is that the piston rings have seized, been installed improperly, or the rings are worn out. The reason why I don't believe its damaged cylinder walls is because every cylinder shows the same sign of compression loss and piston rings go out together. Cylinder walls are unlikely to all be damaged at the same time What do you guys think?
  25. small oil leak Sup guys, I got a small leak happening. I never realised until my brother called me up and said he didn't want me to park my GTR in his garage anymore It's been parked for 1 month in my bros garage and there's maybe like 15drops of oil. So I'm guessing it drops a bit when warm and then stops. I parked it in the driveway with cardboard under the car. If i guess with where the oil lands (the drops are slightly spread out, maybe like 1 inch or 2 apart on the carboard) it seems to be right under the pulleycover (big cover with the big rb26 writting on it in front of the engine). I checked under the hood and everything looks nice and tidy. Under the car there isn't much stuff this far up front, maybe the front diff? I' m getting it tuned this week and mentionned it to the tuner. He's going to have a look at it. What can it possibly be? I checked the engine oil and everything is fine there as well.
