  1. Hi all, I have recently brought an engine (RB25DE) / manual gearbox (small box) from Facebook Market place for a good price which I will be putting into my R34 RB25DE sedan. As you are probably aware the gearbox is an RB20 box which the N/A manuals had. The problem that I'm having is with the boxes sensors. There are 3 ports on the box 2 of which are missing cables I'm not sure if the speed sensor will fit my loom / it looks to be missing a cord? ( On purpose?) And its bracket is broken so a replacement is required. Would my 4 speed automatic one fit? I have attached the photos below including speed sensor Any help would be much appreciated 👍

  3. Hi guys any advice appreciated! Bought car with 170000k's, FMIC'd, cheap turbo, bigger radiator, nistune'd ecu, splitfires, swaybars, 2 way diff etc, drove car for 6months without issue, eventually got a small noise which got worse with time and heat, eventually 'blew up' cruising on highway with abnormally high oil temp, massive internal knocking sort of noise from engine, key off & coast to stop, tow truck, home to cry. Engine will start but it sounds that bad you dont even want to put your head near the engine bay. I believe i've spun a bearing in a rod but am unsure? This car was not babied and I am not suprised something has broken, just after the best way to go about fixing it. I've purchased an RB25DE NEO for $1350 from an engine import shop in Brisbane in late January (business name withheld atm), I still have the receipt, and have not removed engine from crate it was delivered on. I asked for an RB25DET NEO and was sent an RB25DE NEO. I only found out today as i had a mate take delivery. They have a 7 day return policy (it took 4 days to get delivered!) and will not take the engine back as he keeps telling me I asked for a non turbo'd engine. This is a complete lie. All he would do is give me $1250 store credit towards a turbo'd RB25DET NEO (for $3000). What do you guys suggest i do? Is it possible to unbolt sump off both engines and swap crank, rods and pistons after machining? Or should i fix my engine? What parts exactly will need machining? Whats a natro 25 worth from a private seller? ALL REPLIES GREATLY APPRECIATED!

  6. My aircon compressor is almost dead and needs to be replaced soon. My mate has a rb25de aircon compressor that came off a stagea. And im wondering if the rb25de air con compressor will bolt right up to my rb20det aircon bracket. I know the aircon lines will not bolt up. I will have to make custom lines for this. I would like to use a rb25 aircon compressor as it uses r134 gas opposed to the r12 the rb20. i know few shops can do a convertion but as i know the r134 operates at a higher psi compared to the rb20 r12 and will likely stress out the old rb20 aircon compressor. If anybody has replaced their rb20 aircon compressor using a rb25 (r33 or r34 neo or stagea) kindly give me some help of information how to do this. Pictures if any would be of great help.   7. Stock 1994 R33 RB25de for sale - $500 163,000 kms I've cooked my engine, so it's not worth it getting it fixed. Was going to send it to the wreckers, but thought I'd put it up here in case anyone wants it. I'm the first registered owner in Australia. In the 8.5 years I owned the car I'd never had a problem with it - it's been perfect, until now. It's a shame I cooked the engine because I didn't realise how often a car this old needed new coolant in the radiator :S Located in Brisbane.
  8. Hi everyone, I am chasing a set of rb25de pistons, just to be clear NON turbo. I am willing to buy a complete engine/bottom end if the price is right, don't care if all the sensors, accessories, etc have been robbed. If anyone is using am r32 rb25de for a 25/30 conversion, then why not sell me the left overs. I am located in Canberra, ACT.   10. Hi Guys. So I'm in the process of testing a Sniper NOS kit in my NA 25GT R34. Everything is installed and working, including both the nitrous arming switch and micro switch which is enabled on when foot is to the floor on the accelerator. I've tested it by pulling off the intake and putting my foot down while the NOS is armed and it sprays fine. I went for a test drive last night after completing the setup but when I had my foot down, i didn't feel a noticeable difference (75HP Jets). It felt like the car was starving. Has anyone dealt with nitrous systems before running a stock fuel pump and encountered this issue? I started off testing with the 35HP jets and had a similar issue, so I'm just trying find where the problem is. P.S. anyone have a rough idea how much nitrous a stock RB25DE would be able to handle? I've got aftermarket extractors and a 2.5" cat back exhaust Thanks!

Hey, i have just finished installing a new head gasket for the first time on this engine, i am about to install the intake plenum and air ducting, but i still have these 4 brackets left to attach, im not sure where abouts they go, and i dont want to put the plenum on before putting the brackets on, if someone could point me in the right direction that would be helpful, if possible could someone post pics?

Instrument Cluster with 146k, all working fine except the Tachometer doesnt like telling the RPM all the time, sometimes jupms around, not sure the problem but it works sometimes. could be a easy fix. $60 ono. RB25DET Wastegate actuator, Good condition works perfectly fine. $35 ono. R33 Series 2 / R34 GTR coil packs, great condition near new with no spark blowout at high rpm, Genuine Nissan. $220 ono. R33 RB25DET standard blow off valve / BOV, awesome condition works fine. $30 ono. R33 RB25DET stock dump and front pipe, has surface rust no leaks/ holes/ cracks etc great condition. $30 ono. R33 RB25 Clutch Master Cylinder, awesome Condition, Had reco on it when was on my car. works great holds pressure no leaks $50 ono. R33 Rb25 Thermostat, Works great pluger and spring work great, no faults. $25 ono.   14. Hi Guys, I've recently put a R33 RB25DE in my R32 GTS25. All went really smoothly, got it started and sounds amazing at idle. Problem is driving it. Severely lacks power under throttle and runs "spluttery" i guess is the best way to describe it. I've gone through and replaced AFM, coils, fuel pump and filter. No luck. Also checked O2 sensor, TPS and APP. Everything appears to be wired in correctly, no signs of any vacuum leaks, no sunburn fuel coming out exhaust. I am literally clueless as to what the problem might be! Very frustrating!! Please any suggestions or help would be much appreciated :-D
  15. Hi Guys, I recently put a S1 R33 RB25DE in my R32 GTS25. Did manual conversion, brake upgrade, wheels, plugged in engine and she was running mint! Until we went to drive it.....has serious lack of power under throttle and "splutters" when you drive it. First thought was AFM or coils. Replaced both and still no change. Also replaced fuel pump and filter, checked O2 sensor, TPS and APP. Everything appears to be wired in correctly and no signs of any vacuum leaks. Im out of ideas! Any help would be much appreciated :-)

  17. URGENT - Recurring misfiring / stuttering problem with RB25DE engine. Hi to all at SAU Community, I own a 1994 R33 Skyline GST25 automatic with the series 1 RB25DE engine, which is the non-turbo engine. In the seven or so years I have owned the car, it's rarely given me a problem of any sort. I run the car on BP Premium Unleaded 95. In the last 18 months I have started driving the car more often due to work reasons, about 4 times a week, and covering a lot more distance, although most of it is freeway driving. About 2 months ago, I started having a problem with the engine sometimes stuttering and misfiring. It seemed like it was running on 5 cylinders. The spark plugs had been changed a bit over 12 months before that (NGK Platinum plugs) , so it was doubtful it was the plugs, they should last 80,000-100,000 kms, and the car had not even done 20,000 kms in that time. The local mechanic looked at it, could not find anything wrong, just 1-2 plugs needed a clean. He cleaned all the plugs and told me to see how it went for a little while. The car ran like a dream, punchier and more dynamic. All was fine for a while, and now in the last 2 weeks the problem returned, although not as bad as before. It seems to run fine after starting and then idling in park or neutral. Once shifted into drive and idling, or backing in reverse, the problem then appears - misfiring and mild kicking / stuttering. It goes away once back in drive and the car is travelling. It will re-appear when stopping at lights and idling in drive, and also when giving it some throttle while driving, or going up a hill. It all seemed to start after getting fuel at a Shell service station that I had not used before, and only went there out of necessity, so naturally at first I thought it was just bad fuel. The problem continued, so back for another visit to the same mechanic. This time I'm getting told that spark plug no. 3 was rusty, meaning water was getting to it, and that a compression test indicated the beginning stages of a crack in the head gasket between the 2nd and 3rd cylinders. I'm told the car is still drivable, and changing the head gasket was not needed any time soon, but it would gradually get worse. While there, I had a new set of performance ignition coil packs put in, as well as a new fuel filter. No improvement. :s My brother used to be a mechanic, and did his own inspection, and did not find symptoms of a cracked head gasket. Further opinions from 1-2 other retired mechanics agreed. So we are now considering bad advice or dishonesty from the mechanic who worked on the car. My brother poured a bottle of injector cleaner fluid, and also some basic stuff like topping the engine oil, and flushing the radiator with coolant. It actually runs better, but the problem is still there. He is now telling me I should get new spark plugs, especially since I have new coil packs, and to upgrade to Iridium plugs. I am not rushing into buying new plugs just yet, as the current set of Platinum plugs have done a bit over 20,000 kms. Two different suppliers have told me in the last week that they should last 80,000-100,000 kms as said before. MY QUESTION - Has anyone else experienced this or a similar problem, and what could the most likely cause be??? I've heard a range of causes ranging from bad fuel residue, to a cracked head gasket, depending on who you listen to. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. George.
  18. rb25de neo & det neo block and head cast id hi there, sorry new to this but I have recently brought an apparently rb25det neo out of a 2wd stagea. when motor arrived it looked nothing like the pic or description. so I checked the cast numbers and mine has a block cast number 75t and head 5l7. if my research is correct this motor is a de with turbo fitted not a factory det correct
  19. R32 GTS Rb25de stock air cleaner setup Hi all, I have a R32 GTS Rb25de that needs to go through a NSW EPA inspection. The issue was excessive noise, which has been corrected with a new muffler. But I also need to refit all the stock emission control stuff. I've done everything except removing the pod filter and reinstalling the original air cleaner. This was already off the car when I bought it. I got a box of bits with the car but I'm not sure everything is there. My question is can anyone supply a photo or diagram of how the stock air cleaner, ducting and hoses that go to and from it should look. Thank in advance.

Best mods for a rb25de Hey guys, i just bought a r34 gt and i need more power, i want to make around the 170-180kw mark. i don't know what to do first. i can't turbo the car but still want to make some decent power. what should i do. let me know the car has already got a shitty cat back exhaust on it. any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello from Canada! i just recently picked up my first Nissan a 1997 Nissan Stagea with an automatic, RB25de Neo and an r34 Gtr front end, I'm totally in love with it but I parked it the other night and it was running great, went to start it in the morning and it was running rough. I assumed it was a coil pack that died (my Soarer did the same thing last year) so I parked it, and went to the local importer to buy a coil pack. came home went to start the car to pull it into the garage... And nothing. Just cranks but won't fire. Pulled the intake apart to get at the plugs, pulled the plugs out and they were wet, I installed new plugs and still the same problem. Pulled everything back apart and pulled the coils out one by one to check for spark. I turned the CAS by hand to check spark. I have spark on all coils except for cyl 3 ( because of the dead pack) I'm also hearing the injectors clicking so I have pulse also the plugs were wet so fuel is getting to the cylinders. I thought it could be that one coil pack but after searching forums and speaking to RB specialists in town that was ruled out. ive also tried changing the CAS, and I read somewhere that try unplugging the AFM, so I unplugged it and still nothing. I'm at a loss. I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this issue! Thank you in advance for reading! (Sorry for the novel)
  25. Hey guys first time posting here, I've been having this problem for a couple months now, just want some advice or someone may have had the same trouble. Also been to a few mechanics and shops but still unsure on what the problem is. Basically the engine randomly misfires while I'm driving at pretty much any rev and any gear, the engine light will come on, and basically keeps stuttering for as long as I stay around the same revs, unless I take the foot off the accelerator then it'll come good again. This can happen as soon as i take it out of the garage or after coming home from a long drive. The codes were telling me MAF and airflow originally so i replaced that, the other possibility was the coil packs might be on their way out so i tested them with a multi-meter and nothing seemed too out of the ordinary. Also changed the spark plugs just to rule out that problem but its still happening. Any thoughts or leads? Cheers.
