  1. hey guys just got my engine together and once it started. from around 3000rpm there is a rattle from the top end. at first it sounded like a broken valve spring. but at idle car is quiet. so decided to take head off and have it sent off to be inspected and checked. head came back a week later and turned out fine. all parts were inspected and checked for clearances. also in mean time i checked the piston heights incase it was a bottom end bearing. but motor before 26 head conversion was very sound. so head go's back on and start car up and noise is still there. now the ecu is a haltech elite witch has just got a base map on it. one person from the machine shop where the head was done. said it could be detonation ? car is running e85 with 2200cc injectors. im just looking for some feedback or ideas. as this is got me stuffed and i dont wanna give the car to the tuner with issues cheers guys
  2. I wish to know in anyone has used these on a 30/26 combo? are the any good to start with?. The reason i ask is that i'm starting my 26/30 build and given that it is only a street application are the powerbond balancers better than a O.E.M balancer and decent enough so i dont have to shell out for a ross or ATI race balancer.
  3. Anyone running a GTX40-series on an RB30 hybrid? Hi everyone, just trying to find out if anyone is running (or knows of someone running) a garret GTX40 series on a hybrid rb30. I did a word search on "GTX" in the dyno thread but that threw up a handful of 35 series with power in the low-mid 400's. Would also be interested in results of any 2JZ's or other I6 3.0s. If you have any links please post them up!
  4. Hey! So I bought an rb26/30 setup. All pulled apart ready to be built. It came with a set of mahle motorsports pistons and a set of rods. Now I dont know what the rods are. Are they stock? Forged? Useless? Theres no markings besides arp 2000 -7 bolts. I'm going forged bottom so I'll need forged rods, if they're forged itll save me big time. Owner didnt even mention the rods or pistons, I didnt know he was giving them to me neither. Cheers guys!
  5. RB26/30 Into R33 s2 Gidday guys. I have search all over the shop but need to now just ask the question. Back story I have an r33 with a rb25det in it but want to upgrade to the RB26/30 I have. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get in and running. Like what sensors do I need to add to the 30 block. Will my wiring harness from the 25 wire straight up or if not what do I need to do. I had a mechanic and everything to fit it for me but yeah he's a tool because i found out that he want a heap more coin to do it. He says I need to get a vl RB30 and a RB26 wiring harness and then graft together then graft that into my r33 rb25 harness. Also he has to make custom engine mounts. Also i need to get a gearbox from a vl because the 25 one won't fit and they don't make adapter plates. The list goes on. So can you guys and gals please set me straight. Thanks All who help.
  6. hey guys just got a question in regards to the water lines on a rb26 inlet manifold. basically running a rb26/30 with a oil cooled borgwarner turbo and need to know if i can just block off the factory water line barbs on the rb26 intake manifold. there run through a large tube on the manifold. and those two hoses run to the twin turbo's. if blocking off would these cause any issues to the cooling effect on the motor cheers guys
