  1. Hey guys, I'm back with another tutorial that I made (thanks to isolation). This is on a how to swap the RB25 bottom end to a RB30 bottom end with a 25 head in a R34 (R33s and R32 should be kinda similar i think) that I did last year. I had to split the tutorial into 3 parts (each part is like 15mins). It starts with preping the RB30 block, to taking out the RB25, and then putting in the RB30/25 and starting it. The reason why I did an RB30 swap was not because of an upgrade but because my RB25 was showing up bad results on the comp tests and there were cheap RB30s going around (I actually made money out of selling parts from the RB30 that I didn't need lol). The goal for this car is only to be a daily responsive streeter on pump fuel (won't ever take it to the track). It's my first time ever doing something like this (I had no help, did this on my own), so take it as a guide line. If I were to do this again, I would definitely use a proper engine crane and take the whole engine out including the gearbox next time, but yeah... this was a real poor mans job and it got the job done and I've been driving this RB30/25DET Neo everyday to and from work as my daily and I've never had a problem with it (have been clocking 5000+ Kms on it as of 10/4/2020). Here's the videos: Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: I'm really happy with the outcome. Considering I knew nothing about RBs or any engine before I bought this R34. I learnt everything from researching (a shit load) on these forums, so thanks SAU, here's me giving back. The car ended up making 323.8 HP on the dyno with my OP6 highflow turbo which is a bit too small for this engine. So I will go with a bigger one in the near future. List of mods on my car previously that I brought over to the RB30 swap: HyperGear G2 RB25DET OP6 highflow turbo with ballbearing 3" turbo back exhaust 100mm thick FMIC Splitfire coil packs Xspurt 525cc injectors HDI EBC Nistune ECU Z32 AFM Walbro 255lph fuel pump (hard wire mod) 98RON Exedy HD clutch External oil cooler Koyorad all aluminum radiator Just something to add here on the side if anyone was interested (kinda like a build page, but I might as well put it here). This was my whole budget explained: So the total amount that I spent on this build/recon/swap was $3415. I bought a complete RB30 engine (without the box) for $150. Apparently this engine was used in a TAFE course for mechanic students to practise timing stuff on, so the pisons had heaps of screw driver marks on. A recon was in the picture anyways because I want this engine to last for ages. So I only wanted to keep the block, crank and rods. I sold everything els (head, alternator, ecu ect) for $240. That's already a profit of $90 lol! The reconditioning of the RB30 block and RB25 head was the most expensive out of the whole budget costing $1420.   3. These are brand new in the box purple Tial MVR (44mm) wastegates and Tial Q-valves. These were purchased from Full-Race and are laser etched with their logo. Tial products have pretty much set the standard in the industry, and both of these are the latest offering. The quality is amazing, and they look stunning under the hood in purple. The wastegates offer the unique feature of being able to plumb coolant through them to keep them cool, which will help keep them from scorching as most wastegates do. My intentions were to install both Q-valves, one hot side, one cold side, mostly for aesthetics, but I was told it would have no degrading effect on performance. I would prefer to sell them in pairs or as a few set, but willing to work out other arrangements. Willing to ship at buyers expense, please contact me with any questions.   5. Im selling my bran new unused and fitted extreme 6 puck solid button clutch with a extra heavy duty pressure plate. Reason for sale is I have upgraded my turbo and the clutch wont be able to handle 300+ kw, the clutch is suited to someone looking at making 250kw or even a little more. Comes with what's in the picture clutch plate, pressure plate and a new bearing (not the braided hose and fittings) I will get a better picture soon.   12. Hey all I have finally put my rb30det together and I must say I feel accomplished doing it, but the improvements I expected from it are not there. It still feels like my rb25det. I don't know if it is just me or my expectations were to high but everything feels the same. I expected off boost driving to feel better and have more grunt and low down torque and a massive increase in spool seeing as I went from a 2.5 to a 3 liter while using the exact same turbo and housing, but no such luck. To give a bit of background on the car: I had a rb25 with a few mods,forged pistons, forged rods, all bearings changed to acl bearings, freddy intake manifold, t4 twin scroll manifold with the collector for the wastegate merged so you only use one wastegate, hx 40 with t4 .58 housing, 850cc injectors, ford lightning maf, meth injection, walbro e85 450 lph in tank fuel pump all controlled by a power fc. Never dynoed the car but was making excellent power for me. Boost of about 15psi came on full at about 4000rpm in second from a cruise doing about 2000rpm then going wide open throttle. It lit up the tires doing that in second and pulled all the way to red line. In third and fourth I had strong pull all the way to my redline of 7000rpm as well. Needless to say being lazy I knocked the motor due to lack of oil, so instead of a full rebuild I decided to go rb30. I sourced all the parts I needed and built an rb25/30, used the rods and pistons that came with the block with a new set of bearings, rings, rod bolts, crank collar mod, oil pump gear mod and 1.2mm mls headgasket. Reused everything else that would have been on my 25 to finish build. So engine was exactly the same as what was in my rb25 except I now should have half a liter more displacement right?........... Wrong!!!! Car is up and running now and I have put a road tune on it and it feels no different from my rb25. As I stated earlier it feels just like my old rb25 and in some instances less responsive, was just being a bit stink with the less responsive statement, but I was expecting such a different drive that I meant every word of it. Same turbo on the car and the spool time is the same from a log I did full boost at 4000rpm flooring it in second, it doesn't light up the tires the way the 25 did. In fact it doesn't spin them nearly as much, don't get me wrong it pulls but just not as I imagined it. The off boost driving feels just the same as the 25. I figured spool time would drop at least 500rpm and I would need a new set of tires in a day or two from lighting them up in first second and third and off boost driving would feel like my old 25 driving off straight from cold start, but it doesn't. From the information I gave you what do you guys think? Am I just expecting to much or is my disappointment warranted? A little bit more information I forgot to mention. Car had oil leak around crank after fixing mistakenly put car timing out about a tooth drove round like that for about a week boosting and tuning noticed difference from taking longer to crank and loss of response. The car use to start basically half a crank but now it cranks longer to start ever since timing was out fixed it and since fixed the cranking hasn't improved and still feels a bit gutless on the power and response side of things.
  13. Hi all, Looking to finally part ways with my with beloved R31 Skyline. Car is a blue GX, 5 speed manual, has done 302,000 kms and is mod and accident free. I am looking for $2500 but I am flexible. It is in good condition mechanically, with a weeping injector, weeping diff seal and exhaust manifold leak the only problems I know of, none of which affect the drivability or hamper the long term reliability of the vehicle The body is straight but the paint is faded in a few places on the roof and boot. Shocks were replaced all round a year ago and the tyres have good tread on them. This comes with silo rims, not the horrid plastic covers on steel wheels the normal GX comes with. Interior is as can be expected for a car this age, but what I would consider minimal wear on the steering wheel and gear knob. Currently has JVC head unit with ipod cable feeding into the glove box, 2 x 6" JVC door speakers and 2 Hertz 6x9's in the back. I was planning on removing these prior to sale but they can be kept if required. The set up is great, not over the top but is more than sufficient. The car is only registered until May this year, so can be driven and tested until that time. It will not be sold with a roadworthy or reg, but I can arrange for a roadworthy inspection if requested. Other inspections are welcome. This would make a good p-platers car or a good base for a drifter.   15. Hi guys, I have a R34 GT-T and I'm wondering if i should high flow it or buy a new turbo. So far i have installed a 3" Turbo back exhaust and manual boost controller running at around 10psi, but still looking for a bit more power. I am not an expert on turbos but i am learning as i go. My friend has a turbo off a RB30 that has been high flowed, i did read somewhere that they definitely are not a bolt on replacement, but can i use the internals on my housing? Also if anyone could give me the part numbers of the stock turbo on both the RB25 and RB30 Or alternatively recommend a bolt on replacement with a price estimation.

  18. ok everybody I have searched for this with no luck, ( please excuse my poor spelling and grammar ) My r32 is a bit of a Frankenstein motor. History of the car Rb30 built bottom end Rb25 de head cams and flowed T67 In a r32 4 door shell, running autronic sm4 Makes about 525 hp So my problem began when I noticed a slight miss on cold mornings. Cleaned the icv with help of the guide , all sweet for about a day . It started to hunting after it got warm wouldn't hold idle . So made sure it was all back together correct replaced hoses to icv Ran all sweet , lasted for about a day . Started to miss again Changed the plugs they were terrible. Ran sweet for about an hour started missing again. Replaced colpacks with spitfires Car still missing a idle , heaps of black smoke while idling , hunting a lot Removed the new plugs , noticed they were wet with fuel Plugs are gapped to .9 brand new ngk. Just about out of ideas as to what it could be ? Any suggestions .?

(see pics/below for condition) -$400 r33 rb25det stock intake manifold (overhead plenum, runners, throttle body) - $50 r33 rb25det stock injectors and fuel rail - $50 r33 rb25det stock exh manifold, small crack, suit repairs - $10 All prices are negotiable. Block is good condition, but could use a clean. Comes with pulleys, sump, flywheel, etc. Great for 25/30 conversion - could easily be used without ripping apart. Was going to use in said conversion but decided to stick with my neo for a while longer as I am not chasing ridiculous power figures.
  23. hey guys, I've been looking for a rb30 engine block for sale in Australia for the longest while. i live in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies, and i'm interested in someone who is willing to ship one of these blocks for me for a decent price. I see blocks for sale for less then $300au. if i can get one for that price and someone is willing to ship it to me by sea freight? Just thought id as on this forum because i really really want a rb30 block. All my friends have rb20det, rb25det and even some rb26dett setups. I always am the different one and id like to get my hands on a RB30 block to do a RB30DER-T ( supercharger + turbo ) build. but so far my biggest problem is the RB30 block part. Any assistance or advice please?
  24. Hi all. Before anyone tells em to search, i have searched and have come up with so many different answers it's unbelievable. > RB25 head going on to RB30 block. > RB20/25 ARP 2000 head stud kit. RB25 service manual states tightening in increments, loosening off to zero, then tightening to 25-34 NM and then angle tightening 90-100 degrees. ARP kit says to install the studs hand tight into the block, put the head on and then lubricate the "stud threads, nuts and washers" with the provided assembly lubricant, then tightening the nuts in 3 equal steps to 108 NM. Now i have a few questions about the procedure. Are you supposed to put the assembly lube onto the stud thread before you put it into the block? Do the studs really just get put into the block hand tight? (Some people use the a hex key and tighten the stud before putting the nut on, which makes sense to me) I know this isn't *really* supposed to go in the forced induction section but as i am assembling the engine ATM i hope this will generate the quickest responses.
