  1. SAU VIC farewell to a founding member It is with great sadness that SAU Vic committee and members alike say our goodbyes to Bec Pretty who is moving on from her roles at SAU Vic effective immediately. As a founding member of SAU Vic, Bec has been a tireless worker over her 13 years with the club, bringing many events both social and motorsport to the table. She has been a main instigator in our DECA events, which over the years have been one of (if not) our most popular events bringing people from as far as interstate to take part in an event known through the car community as the SAU Vic DECA motorkhana. All up Bec has been more than a driving force behind SAU Vic and we thank her more than we could ever show or say! Bec, We wish you a full and fun future and all the luck in your future endeavours. From the SAU Vic Committee and Members, Thank you Bec Pretty Those that have known and spent time at SAU Vic events with Bec, please comment your thank-you's below.

  5. The SAU Vic Go-Kart Championship is back and bigger than ever for 2017! The 2016 Championship had fantastic support with a great turnout to all 3 rounds. This year we have looked to keep the successful midweek formula that everyone enjoyed and we've added an extra couple of rounds, including one coupled with a cruise to Phillip Island and the final is a spring Sunday afternoon at LeMans that has always been popular over many years. The points system for the championship has also undergone a shakeup. We're going to use the V8 Supercar points system which will mean that events with more than one race will score points for each race, rather than just the final. Don't worry if you can't make all 5 rounds - you drop your worst, so the winner is the best performer at 4 events. The championship starts with the fast, flowing outdoor circuit at AceKarts in Albion on Wednesday the 15th of February at 7:00pm. Our format includes 10 Minutes of Qualifying, followed by a 10 Minute Race and a 15 Minute Race. Championship points for this event will be in the Supercars Supersprint format. 1ST 2ND 3RD 4TH 5TH 6TH 7TH 8TH 9TH 10TH 11TH 12TH 13TH Race A Race B 150 150 138 138 129 129 120 120 111 111 102 102 96 96 90 90 84 84 78 78 72 72 69 69 66 66 Entry fee is $90 which includes all sessions Sign in at 7.00pm Drinks and snacks available from the venue. 7. 2016 AGM & 2017 SAU-VIC Committee Elections Location: The Orrong Hotel - 709 High St, Armadale The 2017 SAU Vic elections will be held via AGM at the November Club Meeting on Tuesday 15th of November 2016 At this meeting, the new Committee for 2017 will be elected the annual report and financial position of the club will be presented. All Committee positions are up for voting and nomination. However it will only be the Executive Committee who gets voted in on the night of the AGM. If you would like to be involved on the Committee, please nominate yourself. If you think someone else would be great in a Committee role - please nominate them. For a nomination to be valid it must be seconded by a current Club Member and the person must accept the nomination. Don't be scared - this is a great way to get more involved with your club. The Committee is currently structured as such: Executive Committee roles: President Vice President Secretary Treasurer General Committee roles: Social Events Motorsport Events Again, this is a great way to be a part of your club. All current financial members are eligible. All committee members have to stand down and be re-nominated and re-elected - so everyone has the ability to be involved. Please post any queries or nominations in this thread. Role Descriptions Executive Committee roles: President This is the clubs leader. This person is responsible for the clubs "public" face appearance. Their responsibility is to ensure the club is heading and following the direction that the members want. The secretary should also track our various club affiliation agreements (insurance etc) and ensure all of the club information is up to date and correct. The secretary should also handle all memberships add/changes/deletes Treasurer The treasurer is responsible for the clubs trading funds and bankroll. It is their responsibility to ensure funds for events, purchases, stock, merchandise, deposits etc is handled correctly. All money transfers, transactions, purchases need to be logged and recorded for our regular balance checks and yearly reviews. As we are non profit car club this role is very important and all steps must be taken to protect the clubs money.
  8. The SAU Vic Motorsport Championship completed the fourth round at Winton Raceway last month. It was another well attended event and you can check out the full wrap up here - SAU Round 4 at Winton The 2014 Championship resumes in July at Phillip Island. If July is too far way, get yourself to the SAU Vic Go Kart Series which starts on 29th June or the iRacing Championships instead! - Pete The SAU Vic team took over several garages and thanks to the generosity of Squires Loft Nunawading provided lunch for all SAU members! The weather held up perfectly at Winton and everyone got clear runs throughout the day. The R35 really muscled its way around the small track! Check out the helmet cam video in the discussion thread. Other makes and models are free to join SAU Vic too. The Toyota 86 is one of the non-Nissan crowd and currently sits 4th in the Championship. Even Evos are welcome!
  9. The SAU Vic Motorsport Championship recently completed its third round at Sandown Raceway. The Championship is held regularly in conjunction with the Vic WRX Club and on this occasion they were also joined by the Porsche Club. Given 3 of Victoria's largest clubs were in attendance, we went along to check it out and weren't disappointed with plenty of nice Rexes, Porkers and of course Skylines there! We snapped a few photos below of some SAU members, but you can also check out the full coverage here: http://www.circuitthreads.com/sauwrx-round-3-sandown/ The next round of the Championship will be held next weekend on Sat 17th May at Winton Raceway! For anyone interested in a fun day at the track, check out the SAU Vic Motorsports Championship details in the VIC Events Section. - Pete Great to see R35 owners using them the way Nissan intended. To see the onboard footage click through to the discussion thread. It's worth it! Plenty of older model GTRs also getting a workout too. R31 given the aero treatment which seemed to work too as it posted times up there with some powerful modern Skylines. R34 GTR rims look right at home on the R32. The award for the cleanest R33 GTR goes to... Don't worry if you don't own a Skyline. The championship isn't only for Skylines and these two SAU Vic members are battling for points in their respective classes.
