i've heard the r32 front suspension is pretty average for double wishbone

Yep, it's so bad that the R32GTR ruled the Group A circuit racing worldwide so much so that they changed the rules.

:P cheers :D

Not as a 4wd Group A car it didnt...did it?

Perhaps the wishbones arent the greatest ever deisgn i dont know...but any road car is goign to have compromised arm lengths, pick up points etc etc...surely they are still better then McPherson struts (Mind you , plenty of capabel cars are using struts)

i would say they had a very specific reason for doing it realted to the cars purpose. saying that it's better than 32 GTR gear is a bit hard to do without specifying "better at what.....?"

and yes, fatz is on drugs. why bring up his personal life here?

lick my bum lol

I had enough trouble getting it up in the first place.

seems in drift skylines run into understeering problems fairly frequently

enough to ruin tandem runs and have the judges give the other guy the win

I'd say this "s13" setup is trying to fix the problem aswell as other things Im not smart enough to work out.

s13 understeering Ive seen in drift vids is like 1 for every 5 skylines(and not that many skylines drift in the vids Ive seen)

hopefully this mod will help Tezuka(?) win a few rounds in D1

looks like he's already doing ok in the street class

Skylines understeer due to the great lump of cast iron Rb up the front. Just like your cefiro :)

The blitz 4 door r34 seems to be doing pretty well with its double wishbone :D

Refer above to what Sk said if there is any confusion :)

hmmm dont have a ceffy as sig says I have 32 4 door cef is the bosses car

blitz 34 seems to have shallow slide entry angle's to offset understeering.... trust me Ive watched a lot of option vids

Im not confused justs looks like double wish is not really suit to slides I think sk was refer to it just being a good setup not that it is great for slides

see number of skylines not in D1 or BM or any other drift series

There is a lot of experience in Japanese drift circles with macpherson strut front suspension cars, courtesy of the huge number of AE86's and S13/14/15's over the years. Understandably the drift teams feel more comfortable tuning a strut front suspension.

The reality is I can duplicate the dynamic camber change angles of an S13/14/15 whilst still retaining the R232/33/34 double wishbone suspension. I can also duplicate the roll centres and bump steer characteristics. Consequently the handling ("slide" if you prefer) would be the same, given equal other dynamics, mostly C of G and weight. But this is not simple to do, it takes some time to engineer and fabricate the necessary components.

My guess is they took the easy way out, used mostly off the shelf S13/14/15 parts, maybe just to test the theory. If it works, they may well revert back to double wishbone with duplicate dynamic change angles engineered in.

:( cheers :)

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
