Blitz - Nur Spec R Exhaust Cat Back System

Read the page before making more stupid threads.

Your post isn't cool. People aren't going to learn anything about their car if you guys always assume new people know what you might know.

anjoO - I haven't had any dealings with Just Jap before, but if you just take the trip out there and inspect the parts to make sure they meet the quality you are after I don't see a problem with it.. and if you don't know what you are looking for, perhaps ask one of the older members of the forum who'll know a little more (I'm no expert! lol but I do know a few things!)

I personally go for the quality over the price, I went to Hi-Tech at Darlinghurst for my dump pipe and cat, had a few problems with the part but they fixed it up in no time at all at no extra charge. I would recommend them in a second to anyone wanting exhausts done but again, inspect the part first!

Hope this helps.

Liz.

what he said.

a $5 bit of 3" pipe will flow just as good as a $100 bit of 3" pipe. the better exhausts can have better mufflers, so they quieten (is that a word?) down better. the cheap systems are sometimes louder than the better stuff, but flow the same. if not better than some. most of the cheap systems (cat back) are pretty straight. some of the better ones have a s bend right before the rear muffler to create a bit more back pressure and quieten them down more.

just so you understand how a muffler works (in case you don't), the tubing through the muffler has holes in it. the muffler is packed with a material to soak up the noise. as the air passes through some of it goes into the muffler, while a lot of it keeps going. the more pressure the air is creating in the piping, the more that goes into the muffler. imagine cutting a small hole in a hose, and that the hole is the muffler and the hose is the exhaust. at low pressure not much water comes out the hole. now if you squeeze the end of the hose and let less water come out, more comes out the hole. that is how those restrictors work that go in the end of the cannon type mufflers.

an exhaust is an exhaust - as long as it works i can't see any jsutification on paying a high price

Doesn't the price often dictates how well it works...quite often this is the case.

I also said, aslong as the quality of parts meet what you are after and you have actually inspected them all should be fine...checking for things that could obstruct air flow.

I am however talking mainly with relation to dump pipes...but I suppose the same principles apply.

ahh see this turned out to be a really helpful thread in the end :grouphug:

Lets face it when you search for "exhaust" with the default search settings you get 172 threads returned....and none of them explain each component

anjoO, if you appreciate the information you got in the thread, why not post a thread in the faq section with the information and a pic of an example of each component....to help out future people looking for this info.

lol yeh i guess i might....wen i have the time.

but yeh back to the topic. the thing is im lookning at a $950 branded muffler + $400 for a cat + another $450 for a front/dump pipe. dats nearli 2g just for a turbo back. and then i look at just jap 950 bux.......sounds fishy.

i always go for quality over price......but it just makes me wonder whats so different between the 2 to make it such a big difference in price. :teehee:

i'd highly recommend a batmbl (sp) split dump and front pipe i do various bits of exhaust work up here and they are a piece of art and well priced aswell if your lucky you could get in the group buy for a highflow cat aswell that are well priced at the moment

than buy which ever cat back you prefer
