Rb25det Base Timing

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just had my car on the Dyno recently and they've discovered something strange. When setting my base timing to about 15 degrees, the CAS is almost fully retarded??

Initially thought that the Timing Belt could be one tooth out but when checked, the dots lined up fine. Next thought was that the CAS was faulty, so swapped this over and still the same result.

Anyone have any thoughts on what else I could check as something doesn't appear to be right?

Cheers,

Mike

either there timing light is fuched

or ..

(

asuming its not an autronic or something that needs a differant trigger disc inside the cas)

you need a new harmonic balancer as the outer ring has slipped on its self.

same thing happened when my car got put on a dyno. they ended up adjusting it to where it ran best but if you read where they set it off the light it was rediculously advanced cant remember exactly how much but it was like high 30's

Proberly got the timing light pick-up in the wrong spot!

Coil number 1 is were it should be taken from.

Cheapish timing lights will do this.

'sometimes' it will read correctly if they double loop the coil 1 wire located at the ignitor. Providing its a s1.
