hey guys i got bored this mornin and decided considering i get asked stuff about my car, instead of telling everyone seprately i thought i'd make up a cardomain page on it showing the car from when i bought it stock rb25 form 18 months ago and then added the rb26 with info (seperate page) on the parts and tasks needed to complete it. then i go through the diff conversion to a gtr rear end and gtr brakes, and about my current engine build and all the other stuff ive done over that 18 months.

ive uploaded about 60 pics as well of everything.

my stagea

let me know what u think :D

cheers

Brad

How much?

wow that could be a touchy subject... would be curious about the answer though.

I'd say not everyone who plants a 26 into their stagea would go to this extent, though... JUN motor and all that.

Plan on leaving it look like a standard RSFour, Darrin? thats what i'd be doing...

That is one hell of a write up, enjoyed every word i read.

I definately would not like to be your bank ballance thats for sure lol.

Although it would be interesting knowing what it ended up costing, lol.

I wouldve just bought a 260RS and put an RSfour kit on it...

If you bought it a couple of years ago, id say 260's would have been hideously expensive back then though?

Thats how it is, though. You buy a car, and you just keep adding to what youve got, and over a couple of years, it all adds up. Id hate to count up what ive spent on mine.

By the time its done, say 6mths, moneywise i could have bought a stock S1 rs260. Which is kindof disheartening... Havent even touched the engine!

thanks guys and alex that amount of 45k was before i did the engine build i might add, and ill just say the engine rebuild (not the rb26 just the rebuild of it) and supporting hardware is worth almost about the same as the initial car and rb26 conversion so its not cheap but u get what u pay for and every single part on that car is brand new and the engine parts were choosen by the owner of JUN in japan for a jun distributor workshop in perth (deal went wrong and i bought the parts off them) and it was garantueed to make 800rwhp with a t78 turbo and thats just on a reasonable tune, these engines with a t88 are made for over 1200-1300hp and 11000rpm+ :D

GTR-700 gtr runs the jun 2.7l crank and jun gear and has ran a 8.273 @ 167.76 mph using VeilSide

GT-3542 (x2) turbos so they are even beating the os giken 3L gtr's :D

hoping for a low boost tune later this week if the shop isnt too busy and thats on about 18psi and around 450-500rwhp is the goal for a safe figure to save the fragile gtr gearbox.

i cant wait is all i can say ;)

heres a list of the worlds fastest 4wd records at the drags on slicks...

1st HKS Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 7.671 181.98 mph HKS GT3540R (x2)

2nd Avance Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 8.119 171 mph MHI TD06-25G (x2)

3rd www.exvitermini.com Australia Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 8.273 167.76 mph VeilSide GT-3542 (x2)

so 3rd fastest in the world is a jun stroker :)

EDIT: that exvitermini site was Last updated: 26-July-2005 so its a year old but u get the idea none the less.

    • Hi guys, I’m new to the GTR scene. Picked up an R33 GTR earlier this year that needs a lot of love. I’ve been going through the hot side, changing all the gaskets and while it was all off I managed to score a set of -9s. It still had the stock ceramics so I was pretty happy to get the 2860s.  I live in a small country in the pacific with 0 performance car scene. No dyno’s no performance parts, let alone stock parts for a skyline. I order everything from Australia and do it myself. This means I’ll be running the stock ECU. Maybe down the track I’ll get an aftermarket set up and do a remote tune.  Will the car run -9s on stock tune safely?  I have a very heavy foot so I really hope so 😂   thanks guys
    • perfect, no rush to address the leaking bush then, it's not doing much/anything
    • I'm not sure if it will bolt up, but.... I'm reasonably sure that the ID of the runners is somewhat smaller on the NAs. So it probably wouldn't be a good match at the flange where the top and bottom meet. So that would be a reason to not do it. And the skinny runners would be the bit you're keeping, which would be a reason to no do it. You'd want the big runners if you were doing any work to swap stuff. Why not just use what you've got, like nearly everyone else who has +T'd an NA? You don't need or want the TCS throttle or other stuff that is specifically DET inlet/crossover.
    • lol already been put in temporarily 3 years ago
    • Makes sense. For actuators, if the pressure itself isn't adjustable, that would mean I'd need to think about 2 different actuators with 2 different pressures on paper in order for them to work at the same time if the turbos behave differently. So measure the difference in psi needed to move both, and then get an actuator to match that difference. Assuming I cant get rid of it by adjusting the arms.  You're exactly right, never happens in gear 1 or 2. I can occasionally get it in gear 3 if going uphill but its very small. Only ever in 4 and 5. Seems kind of backwards that one of the points of VCAM is faster spool but if it introduces shuffle then it actually slows spool down.
