When i got my car, my rear speakers never worked. So replaced them with some aftermarket ones and it still didnt work. So instead of trying to work out what was wrong I went down the aftermarket amp path.

Just stumbled across a page which states that if you do not have your original headunit, then your active speakers will not function properly. I believe this is the reason why my rear speakers never worked. As my headunit was aftermarket from japan.

yep - bypass them daily. they have an EQ curve applied to them also.

So all that was needed was a signal to activate the stock amp. Ripped it out because i thought it died and smashed it into little bits. Ah well

i just ripped out the amp and ran the rear speaker signal straight to new speakers
