Hey guys ..

Just put a new pod on my car, Seems to be getting more air (sounds like the filter is going to suck itself in) but a feel like its less powerful .. For the people reading its an Apexi Power intake..

The only real way to tell is to put the box back on but im to lazy to do that..

Can someone tell me im imagining it or its for real?

Also I need to link a cold air intake to the pod .. with the stock bar its pretty much impossable .. any idea on a way to get some hosing in there?

Currently using the stock intake funnel from the air box (im running no CAI presently) CAI will go on soon though .. just looking for a alternative to stock feed (im imaging its restricting air flow? fill me in tho!)

more than likely your seat of the pants dyno is broken ..

if there was a change it would be in the vacinity of 5rwkw .. if you can notice that losing that slows your car .. id be very suprised.

Well I can feel the power loss when I wack my silencer in! But from what ive heard thats about 20kws .. rumour ..

Maybe im just crazy hey?! Maybe in not dragging the gears out enough. ill give it a thrash tonight on the freeway ..

It came with an airbox for a reason.

Does it idle a little rough? Got heat-soak? CAI will help, but a box around the pod with feed/s will be optimum if you want to keep the pod. I'm assuming you only use the pod because it sounds tuff? Otherwise, just get a high-flow panel.

It's prolly sucking in bulk hot air from the engine bay now.

a pod without a proper heat shield is useless. More induction noise yes...but thats all u gonna get.

Well I put my cai on and yes it works alot better I noticed on longer drives to work the heat soak would kill the power and dumping it in second felt like dumping it in 3rd.. not kewl

CAI on and induction is actually louder but im using the stock feed from the original air box .. seems to work well and cant see a reason to do a direct feed.. when I get a new kit ill direct feed to the "GTR look like gap" that will be formed and meshed which should increase flow conciderably.

Shouldnt you reset your ECU when a pod is placed on? As you have changed the air volume being sucked into the car, the ecu needs to reprogram it self for the more air.

Try resetting your ecu, by disconnecting battery.

if you're not going to box the pod and feed it cold air just stick with the standard intake.

id definetely recommend puttin in a box for it

as for the air ducting, if u have put in a front mount intercooler then u would have a hole from the standard side mount for the hose

I dont think he's imagining it. His just sucking in hot air from the engine bay which is creating heat soaking hence lower power!!! nothing beats the stock air box!!! you want some induction sound get a fmic.

I've found quiet cars always feel faster as they don't sound like they are working hard.

You tend not to hear it roaring yet your being pushed in the seat.

Hahaa i got an apexi in the 34... and mann it sounds and feels great

I think the best way to fix this heat soak prob is to box it up and have the stock feed still there going into the box... but i wish there was another way of getting another intake pipe to come from under the pod but there aint much space is there? any ideas? pics?

The heat soak leads to ecu retarding timing, hence power loss. I used to notice it most after a sit at the lights then you try to take off quick...All that lovely hot air!

Having a FMIC wouldnt help heatsoak when having an exposed pod right?? worse comes to worse i guess go to UAS and buy there air box and snorkel.

where can you get the air box for R34GT?
