umm to me the most important part of the car is its engine, especially when talking power

which is really all the HOLDEN boys have over our OLD(stock form) skylines. So if they didn't

use a CHEV Engine would you still be bragging about your holden VE SS commodores?

I dont understand the point of your argument though. The argument isn't what parts are made from who? People are arguing about the cars as a whole. There isn't any way of knowing what the commodore would be like without the 'CHEV' engine. Its like saying the GTR probably wouldn't be as good without the RB26. No Fcuking crap? But the fact is the VE SS does have a Chev engine (who cares who makes it?)and thats how its been made.

Anyway, no one is bragging, they are simply trying to stand up for a car that isn't half bad & that most people dont give any time on here because of a badge. Now its the fact that Chev makes then engine. I thought this kind of argument stopped when they stopped putting the 30 in VL's.

wouldn't have anywhere near the amount of power.

LoL Nissan Car, Nissan Engine. not rocket science.

It started right back up by them now HAVING(i like that word) to use a CHEV engine.

How else would they get those kw's?

To simply sum it up for yourself......

The best Holdens have either Nissan or Chev engines.

But who gives a Fcuk if they use a Chev engine? Obviously you do?

Wow Nissan use a Nissan engine. That must make them automatically a better car?

Obviously Holden have done their research and decided that the more feasible option is to use a Chev motor and it is churning out the numbers so whats the problem? Why build something yourself when you have something thats proven?

what IM saying is if your a holden fan, Brag on about HOLDEN ENGINES

Dont sit there telling me how your HOLDEN is so F'ing awesome with its CHEV ENGINE.

Seriously,,,it aint rocket science.

I suggest you go and find out how many parts in your Nissan engine are made by Mitsubishi then...

dayum......turned out into an all out war

but one post caught my attention.....

r34gtt compared to the cv6 monaro and r34gtr compared to the cv8 monaro - there is no way you can compare it like that. Perhaps the cv8 compared with the gtt?

The only cars that can be compared would be something like Aussie built cars Vs American built cars OR if its nissan, then nissan v mazda or nissan v toyota

Too many factors i, in my humble opinion, reckon that will hinder the comparision between the japanese cars and aussie built cars (i.e engine for one)

You do realise that chev is owned by General Motors? Which also owns Holden?

Also did you know that a lot of the new Nissans run on the same platforms as the new renaults?

it got a little out of hand yes. was just stating the legalaties of cars with that much power on the road. if they were ever to be on the road we should be able to have modded skylines and other imports and not be harrassed for it.

sure we all love fast cars but asking for that much power from a v8 with a blower is only going to result in people killing themselves.

Why would they kill themselves? the car only goes as fast as your right foot

And if this car is modded legally there is nothing wrong with it.

If your car doesn't meet ADR's don't go complaining when you get defected.

Can anyone look on the positives on anything to do with this car?

I didnt wanna start a VS thread but I've never actually been able to voice my opinion in one before it was locked! I just seem to find that people nit pick on such irrelevant little things due to the fact that they just dont like them. Like the fact that GM owns Holden & Chev & now someone is picking on Holden for putting a Chev motor in is just ridiculous :P

Side Note: You ARE allowed to have modded Skylines & other imports on the road and not be harassed for it. Engineers certificate is a good start....

Which also means cars like the SL55 & XKR shouldn't be produced? They are perfectly legal, V8, Supercharged, and wouldnt be any slower than this ute...

yes you may be right but... top end cars that you stated handle superb have a price tag of over 150k. a holden or ford with that much power at a lower price tag for the average joe.... your asking for trouble.

enough said.

    • I mean technically you don't. And you don't need a wideband if your tune is good. But this is what I was getting at. It's really hard to tune something to that degree. Narrowbands are used to take a 'somewhat accurate map' into stoich, like a boost controller, and you're really just tuning how much 'work' it needs to do, with the aim of 'Better tune, Narrowband/Wideband has to compensate less' But anyone who has ever done something like tuned one day, then DARED to drive on a day where it's 5 degrees colder/warmer, or in a slightly hillier region, or slightly higher altitude will look at their tune and "If only there was some kind of device that could compensate on the fly and hit a target to account for...." And now you know why Narrowbands, Widebands, and things like MAF's exist.
    • Maybe go log your voltage vs. RPM as you doodling around town. The issue could be your alternator is cactus which has been supplying fluctuating voltage to the rest of your car thus killing your pump early.
    • Yeah, but maybe not. Maybe yeah. Maybe not. You know how it is. I mean, if the volts are low and the pump has reduced capacity, then it will maybe not be able to supply enough fuel to keep up with your peak demand, but it really shouldn't make it go lean as you're ramping up, then catch up again. The pump dynamics are (should be) a pretty instant trade off between flow rate and pressure, and even that shouldn't matter because it is actually the job of the fuel pressure regulator to take care of that dynamic, leaving the pump to see pretty much the same pressure and flow conditions any time the engine is running.
    • One thing I do like about innovate is their ability to simulate a narrowband O2 output, great for deleting the OEM O2 and feeding that 0-1V simulated voltage back to the stock ECU. Great for PowerFC users, Nistune users that do not have the luxury of ingesting wideband 02 data. And before anyone says "yOu doN't nEEd O2 fEEdbACk iF yOUR tUNe is goOd" can GTFO.
    • The R32 ECU won't know why it is misfiring. This is likely to be a problem with the speedo drive cable. it could be broken and still driving, but lets go from time to time (which is unlikely, but possible). You could have damage at the plastic connector between it and the input to the speedo head. That's where mine broke. You could have gearbox oil creeping up the drive cable from a failed seal in the speedo drive at the gearbox. This is able to climb all the way up and gunk up the inside of the speedo. I had this too, and had to dismantle everything and very very gingerly clean the speedo out.
