Hey trouble with my R33...

Some background: everything is stock except for a pod filter...

but in the mornings when i hop into my car, everytime i brake i can hear a grinding sound coming from the brakes. But later on when the car is warmer, it doesnt grind anymore, can anyone help me?

and also...

Everytime i go over bumper my back suspension gives out a squeking sound... does that mean i need new suspension?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Joe

Its dependant upon the brand and compound of your brakes. Some brakes take time to warm up, so first thing they may sound grinding until they warm up. Most people who go and fit aftermarket 'race' style brakes are not aware of the warm-up time. Some performance brake pads and not suitable for street use.

Sounds like your rear suspension may just need a lube. Worse case scenario is the hydraulics in the shock itself is worn. In which case, replacement is required.

or your brake pads are almost to the end of its life......might wanna replace them soon.....somtimes they have a little pin which is after certain percentage of wear starts grinding on the rotor....thats a sign to change the pads mate....

I agree, but if it goes away when its warm, then it may just be a compound issue. Everyone that I know of (inc myself) who's had this issue, the result has just been pad compound.

In any case, best be safe than sorry. Check your pad thickness.

Do you have stock or aftermarket shocks?

Somethings to check for:

- oil leaks from the shocks, generally from the tops

- loose nut & bolts in the suspension, try tigtening them all up

- worn upper control arm bushes or shock bushes.

Also, before you start forking out $$ for new shocks get a Pedders $14 suspension safety check just to be sure.

wats a good place to get those Bendix Ultimates and how much am i looking at?

you'll be looking at around 150? but i don't reccomend them! they can get very noisey even when warm because of the compound! and after a little run in the hills i thought yeah they're good, no brake fade and all but the next day just driving normally and the brakes were juddering! so i had a look at the disk and i lost chunk out of them! like a few mm in little areas so i replaced them and went back to normal bendix! can't say this would happen to you but from a few people only a small number of them haven't had any problems!

i cant be fecked reading everyones replys so i might have repeated what others may have said,

grinding sound, with the amount of rain the disks could have slight surface rust but wears off after using the brakes a few times. or just the pads are low but doesnt explain the fact that the sound goes away after awhile of driving. never hurts to check though.

the squeaking sound, sounds like the bushings need abit of oiling up.

just going on what happens to me im no guru of cars though.

kye

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
