Uneven Suspension Height

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just put some coilovers onto my r33 gts-t. when i installed them I tried to get all 4 set at the same height

after installation all was fine. now after about 2 weeks of driving all the suspension has settled and it is slightly

uneven on the left hand side (about 1.5cm)..

My question is can this cause any damage to my car as i wont have a chance to fix the ride height for about 2 weeks due to work..

Cheers

You can't spare 20 minutes for 2 weeks?

Height is a very simple adjustment and it would be unusual if you need to do more than 1 corner. The process is easy;

Measure all 4 corners

Work out which corner is the lowest and by how much, centre of wheel to guard as usual

Jack up the corner that is lower and take off the wheel

Then wind up the lower spring seat on that corner by how much it is lower

Put the wheel back on and measure the result

An example,

RHF = 355 mm

LHF = 360 mm

RHR = 335 mm

LHR = 345 mm

Wind up the RHR by 10 mm, that will lift it to match the LHR plus lower the LHF to match the RHF.

Simple and if it takes you more than 20 minutes you need to buy a better jack and wheel brace.

Cheers

^ I know its easy but for the next to weeks i'm leaving at 6am and home at around 8.30 - 9pm for 2 days then staying in syd for the rest

so only driving the car about 4 times but its a 1 hr drive to work Central coast to chatswood

I just wanted to make sure i wont warp or break anything big or small by driving it like this..

P.S thanks for the easy how to i'll use that when i fix the ride height :thumbsup:

Cheers
