Can't put in the engine bay - don't like it in the boot - can it be securely mounted inside the car at the back ?

4.8.1 - Batteries

All wet cell batteries must be located outside the driver or passenger compartments and must be securely mounted. Unless otherwise specified in class regulations, any number of batteries may be fitted, provided the combined weight of all batteries does not exceed 68kg (150lbs). A 75mm (3 inch) equilateral triangle, coloured blue, or another contrasting colour where necessary, is required on all vehicles fitted with a wet cell battery or batteries to accurately indicate their location/s. All competition cars quicker than 12.00 (1/4 mile) / 7.70 (1/8 mile) require a battery isolation switch located in the battery location marker. capable of shutting off current flow and operable from the exterior of the vehicle. This is highly recommended for all other vehicles. It is also recommended that sedan vehicles with trunk mounted batteries have a trunk key permanently fitted to the lock. In open cars, where battery spillage over the driver may occur, the battery should be covered and vented to a safe area.

your building a car and don't have a rule book? Better to build the car around the class you intend to race in and refer to the book when you need something clarified. That way you can do it once and do it right. I know a couple of people who built cars and did not have a class to race them in....silly buggers!

I just got a reply from ANDRA saying that dry cell batteries can run in the passenger compartment provided they are adequately secured.

I can see your logic - it's not quite as bad as all that LOL - my friend has a book and i have been using that as well as the net - the reason i asked was someone did mention to me in the past about battery inside - now through doing this we all know that a Dry cell is cool , beauty - thats what i will do then , thanks for your efforts - OH yeh i shall fasten with Blue tack - what ya reckon lol?
