Cleaning White Rims!

Recommended Posts

As the title suggests I have a set of white Volk TE37's on my R32 Skyline that I bought 2nd hand that were VERY filthy from brake dust. I've high pressure washed and scrubed with warm soapy water but I cannot get them completly clean. I want them spotless, not marks at all.

What products/methods do you use to keep your white rims sparkling clean? Some people have told me to use degreaser.. But I'm abit iffy on using it incase it eats my paint. Also someone else has reccomended me Meguiars All Wheel Cleaner but I'm abit iffy on that aswell.

Please help!

I don't have white wheels, but I just use those wheel polishes they sell at supercheap auto and it does the job. Nothing has happened to the wheel's condition (apart from being cleaner) from it so I guess that's a good sign.

I used degreaser on mine, worked like a charm! Soak them in it, then high pressure it off... PERFECT!!

My other tip is never, never, never, never, never, never, never, NEVER get white rims! :)

So take a can of it to happy wash next time I go,spray it on, wash it off and be forever happy that my white rims are actually white?

Sounds to good to be true :)

Degresaser is the best way to get them spotless.. The Acid Free rim spray works well to.

For future use however use your car wax on the rims, use a paint cleaner before you apply it.. and your grime and yukky stuff with come off with a spray. But you must reapply every now and then. :)

Micro fibre cloth and a light cutting compound about twice a year plus normal washing ect..

As white as new.

BINGO... the rims on my GTS1 were grotty as hell, (11spoke!) bastards took an hour each but they came up mint.

white rims = a total pain! I love my rims but i have to clean them every few days. Meguiars products are great, used them a fair few times.. best product was some cheap waterless carwash stuff i got from the servo - brings em up perfect!

Jiff doesnt work that great. Good on your hands (I'm a mechanic, great for cleaning yourself after work) but I tried it on my wheels and it didnt work that great :(. I used degreaser then hosed it off, and used a cloth to get the rest. Then put some polish on it. Washed it the other day, and they dirt just wiped off perfectly with a cloth.
