new job, new car = what do i do now

as the title above states, i have a new job and part of salary package includes $20 k.p.a towards a car, so i am off to buy a bimmer and 33GTS25 becomes my project.

end goal is that 33GTS25 will deliver 500 rwkw and will become saturday night special as well as hard core drag car, or should i say that the object is to build a streetable drag car that runs on pump fuel, i realise that this may be a big ask, but have the time and money to achieve my goal

so where do i start and what bits should i be buying

i am going to build a full in-house motor etc so want some ideas from those in the know

my thoughts

start with RB30 block

then i can probably pick it up from commode driver for $100 and send it to be acid dipped and cracked tested, if it has any flaws, well at least it has only cost me the $100 i.e better than buying R33 half cut and finding it has got problems.

where i should go from here is something i would like to hear about

as i said before, i want it streetable so a grout filled block is out of the question

thanks for your support ryan, i know it will be expensive but am prepared to take up to 2 years to complete if necessary. obviously i would prefer that it was done a lot earlier but lets see how long it takes to get the bits i want

If you are serious. I would forget what you read an go out and buy an rb26. get it recoed with either N1 pistons or forgies if you the budget agrees. put some 272 cams in and twin 2540R turbos or a t78 and your done big cooler power fc rb25 det gearbox metal head gasket, and spend some cash on good drag suspension.

it will run all day on a set up like that.

meggala

a good rb25/30 will cost you 10 15 k easy and they arent as reliable.

there is a guy in qld with a r32gtst withan rb26 and he runs 11's woith only boost.

jimbo, 500rwkw!! i have a friend who has an xc falcon running 500rwkw from a 460 that has been stroked to 484 and no matter how many magazines i show him, he still doesn't think an equivalent powered 6 could take him but aside from that i love big hp cars

birty, unfortunately no M or Z cars or even a GTR which i also considered, the car is for business purposes i.e taking high net wealth clients to golf etc so a four door is necessary, can you imagine putting jamie packer in the back seat of a GTR. i dont think he would be too impressed, actually i am looking at either a 5 series or short wheelbased 7 series

meggala, the Rb26 sounds like a better option from your comments,

how much work would i need for my power goals i.e would i still need to crack test the block etc. should i purchase an HKS crank to go with the N1 pistons etc etc

this is the first time i have built a full in house motor and the process means that i will be probably bothering you guys a whole lot more from now on

thanks for your help

I'd just think a RB26 head RB30 block, big single turbo in a GTST would make a decent car. Would provide plenty of torque to be drivable on the street while having a killer top end as well when you let it go :) 8O

start at takahira.com for the stroker cranks etc .

ifyou want 800 hp at the fly mario did that on stock internals on a gtr.

just get an rb26 from an r33 or later and get it properly built with forgies -t88 etc.

btw I know of an r33 gtst with an rb26 for sale it has dog box line locker all kinds of stuff mail me if you want ot know more talking 30 k or minus 5 not sure of the price.

thanks meggala, 800hp at the fly on stock internals!!! geeze thats pretty damn impressive, well that sounds a whole lot cheaper than my previous option. i think that once the process begins i will be in your ear a fair bit for some tips on cooler size and what parts i should be getting etc.

it also helps that my fiancees father is a nissan mechanic so i can get the work done for a carton of XXXX not to mention the discount i can get on other bits from mates

stay tuned folks 33GTS25 project due to start from 1 july

damn i am going to miss the sound generated by the N/A though!!

hehehehehe!! takakaira com is a great site isn't it. Did you check out the sequential shifter! i'd love one of those. Project car sounds great, there are several ways to go all expensive, if I where you i'd spend some more time on research and planning befor I jumped into spending although I know from experience the urge to get started is almost irrisistable
