Well went for my ride around the local lake this morning (about 16kms in total) then about 1km away from home my rear end of my bike started vibrating.... thought maybe it was the chain until it started getting worse and worse, finally looked at my rear tyre then realised i had my first puncture tyre.

Oddly enough i smiled then walked the last km, knowing i have now had my bike tyre gang virginity broken, i think i can kinda call myself a cyclist ;-)

So with that i went down to the local bike store where i got it from and purchased 2 flat attack kevlar belted tyres for it, both semi slicks.

I have been putting off riding the bike to work for a few weeks now as it is an 18km ride either way, but with the excitement of the new tyres i think i will do it on Tuesday providing weather stays good.

paid $87 for the 2 tyres and a tube, which is kinda strange because I am sure the guy said $20 per tyre (which was extremely cheap) last time i asked him about tyres, and i am sure the upgraded tube he gave me isnt worth $40 odd dollars?? oh well am still quite happy with him as he has given me heaps of other discounts on bike, helmet, lights etc so i can complain.

All in all am kinda looking forward to this early cold morning ride to work and the late cold ride home :-)

i've been riding for 8 years and i've only gotten a puncture once, and thats when doing a rear wheel tap on super low tire pressure. Stupid DX32s.

But that said, transition bottlerocket! Hopefully, the insurance gets back to me asap.

i'd take a guess that the tube was $7 (the general price for tubes, unless it was a thorn resistant one, then it was probably $17), and the tyres were $40 each. depending on what sort of tyres they are that isn't that much. unless of course they fitted the tyres for you then you could expect the labour to be about $20 a tyre, so you'd have the tyres at $20 each and fitting at $20 each and $7 for the tube.

it's so cold lately here in perth... like - ridiculously cold for this time of year!

couple months ago now - would've been like march i think

i was in a rush to get home from work, for a job interview ...made it back to my house in 15 min (takes about 25 by car) i was turning into my street going about as fast as i can make a turn - still pedalling the whole way thru, fk braking of course, that shit's for pussies

anyway, got pedal strike on the left pedal, rear end of the bike did a "hop" which was fine but the side wall of my vittoria rubino had completely dissinegrated and had come away from the bead... it's one of the most gnarly tyres i'd ever seen!

anyway, full speed, turning corner, rim contacted on roads and bike completely slid out from under me... i held onto it for as long as i could... which... just so happened to land me in a neat pile in the path of on coming traffic lol

then i rushed out to the job interview with blood pouring down my leg and cuts all up my arms and broken toes...

fun story about the end though... beleive it or not i DIDN't get the job!!!

HA!

Just did a nice one hour ride in to work today on my new tyres!

Massive difference, with the new semi slick, i bought also has the kevlar belt inside the tyre to reduce punctures. Such a smoother ride.

It was bloody cold this morning and i was wearing shorts and t-shirts, everybody else was wearing bike kits gloves etc. Looks like i will have to do this as well for next time, my FKN fingers FROZE! and i had snot reminiscent of that scene in dumb and dumber when they are on the scooter!

bahahahhahahahaha lol!!!!! awww that SUCKS!!!!

i saw everyone riding omw to work from my car today rugged up like crazy haha

where do you commute from and to???

during winter months i use arm warmers... they're slip on sleeve kinda things... they keep you warm while riding but you still wear a tshirt so you don't get too hot either!

i bought them first thinking "man these things are totally gay" now i wear them when i go out at night cos they're warm lol

yeah def goin to drop by the bike shop and get some riding gloves like driving miss daisy style ones :-)

I work skins underneath my shorts and t shirt which is great for those parts, but will have to invest in some of these arm and leg thinggies you guys are talking about as well.

Kinda looking forward to the bike ride home, I live in Tapping (just past joondalup) and am riding to whitfords which is prety close to 20kms, i have actually bought a spedometer but it is taking innacurate measurements saying that my ride was 40km which i am sure it wasnt, it was also telling me that i was travlling 45kms hour??!!

Nah dont have iphone, phone contract runs out in dec so will definately get one then.

I have a sigma monitor with heart rate monitor as well, works great, but will have to reduce the wheel size, also the little sensor sits about half way up the wheel as well as that where it sits just under the shocky on the front fork.

ahaahah yeah i have the strap but havent worn it yet when riding, i could imagine though it feeling like a fricken elastic band rubbing and rubbing! not nice, but have had high blood pressure lately (which you know me dan is quite unusual when i try to stay fit and eat well) so thought it might be good idea to watch the heart in some form....

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car

    • All my Polish car culture insight comes from watching Nightride. So I half expect this to get 1UZ swapped eventually?! Are you going to drive it in winter? I'm always curious how ATTESA would hold up in the snow. There isn't that much opportunity to try it in Australia.
