Stagea Info.. Chasing Info And Advice!

Hey guys, after years of drift cars and fast cars mainly all RB powered its time to give up the ghost and stop before i wind up without a license for life. So i wanted something i could relax, cruise, family orientated(when i decide to) but without losing the power and handling of my old silvias/skylines. So i got myself a NIZMO plated STAGEA!

So questions i have that need answering!

Intercooler - i have a HKS 100mm GTR core lying around and i want to use it in the stagea. obviously since the end tanks on a GTR cooler wrap around piping will be slightly different. I would like to utilise a piping kit possibly generic but what fits???

Suspension - The car is evidently plated a factory NIZMO STAGEA so it has the nismo suspension components BUT it has a ride height that makes me cringe (Coming from drift cars 45mm off the ground) i want it to sit just on legal height but look the goods aswell.. Adjustable coilovers would be ultimate.. but i cant seem to find a listing for a WGNC34.. if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be tops.. or if another model is rumoured to fit (r33?)

Automatic/4wd - Im not a big fan of a automagic. What is involved in swapping it to a RWD 5SPD set up? parts list? mods required other than the obvious.

Hope you guys can help me!!!

Eddie.

Look through the DIY and suspension and brakes threads above. A set of lowering springs for about $300 or $3k + for decent coilovers (cheap ones would be a backward step). Have a good look at your nismo shocks. Mine are front: Nismo 56110-RSC45ENP and rear nismo 53210-RSC 45ENP (with Tein springs) but they are actually rebadged Bilsteins so if yours are too you can just change the position of the circlip to reduce the ride height - and cut some more grooves if you want to go lower still (min legal ground clearance is 100mm in NZ) and you may not even need different springs.

Hi,

Welcome to family life!!! Shame you had to sell drift car, I convinced missus to keep mine!

1. Intercooler: R33 GTST (hole cut under bty) piping should be a close fit! I used Greddy R33 GTST kit and perfect fit on my S2 stagea.

2. Suspension: R33 GTST on auto stagea, R33 GTR on factory manual, top mount on rear is slightly different.

(may have lowered precedio wagon springs available soon to suit struts - DMS coil over upgrade on way!)

3. Manual: R32-33 gtr box(push or pull clutch!), R33 manual pedal set, R33 handbrake setup, search high and low for console!

    • Been slowly chipping away at it when I've got time. Tried to get the box in with the converter but worked out that the flexplate isn't the correct thickness and the converter pulls out off the pump too much (about 8mm). The flexplate for some reason was setup to use the secondary holes on the converter which had a press in nut to bolt to. I worked with Adamat performance the guys who manufacture the kits and they revised the design and made it suit the factory converter holes and milled up a new one for me and is currently on its way over. Can see the differences between the two compared to the orignal design which is in the post above. Once that's here the box can go in for good. I dummy'd it back up to get tailshaft length and is currently with Hardy Spicer to sort that out. Unfortunately won't get it back until late Jan Have been working in the boot lately getting it all a bit nicer and useable. Painted it with sound deadener and cut out a new boot floor from 18mm MDF so I can put a pram or my tool bag in the back. Have marine carpet coming to stick onto that and then also cut a piece to cover the battery. Once ive stuck the carpet in and all cleaned up ill pop the fuel system back in. Need to order 2 new Walbro 525s to replace the 3x 460s. Should be enough fuel for the new setup and run a bit cooler as well having more volume in the surge tank and less heat.  Have also ordered some sound deadener to put under the carpet. That should be here next week and I'll start putting it down on the floor, doors and roof. Hoping all this effort will make it a nice streeter with ability to daily if I want to.
