New Club for Auz...

Recommended Posts

There's an idea being thrown about for a new club...not a club that's centering around looks...but more performance...having regular track days, drag contests, 0-100's...etc...

Wouldn't matter if your car's 20 years old...as long as she's got the power and you wanna use it on the track...

The only requirement is to have a rating of at least 200hp at the fly...

That's the idea...thoughts?

It's a thought at the moment...it comes from a UK club called 200plus, myself and another member who recently moved to Auz are in talks with the owner about starting the Auz part of the club, using their name, stickers, etc...

It's an excellent club in the UK and their mailing list is also top notch, lots of performance knowledge etc...

I'm just getting feedback of people's thoughts and possible interest before putting in all the hard work and finding no-one's interested...

The website seems to be down for some reason at the moment but it's :

yeah i know. that's why i like the idea.

at the same time you'll get so many varied models that you [b:1826cf600c]might[/b:1826cf600c] not get a closely knit club. i don't know... sounds interesting though.

keep us updated

closely knitted club depends on the owners personalities as supposed to the makes n models of the car...and if the people can't see past the model of their cars then that makes them narrow minded...

Just an observation... :)

but will keep ya posted...

Sorry Andy, but my experience with MysFit and watching other clubs, I have to agree with IMABUM... the club wont be as close-knit as a solo-model club, and that doesn't make us Narrow Minded at all.

Cause there's no serious squables. No, well I don't like "Holdens" no way will an all comers club be as easy to fit into or get along with as a solo make club. Not saying it's a bad idea at all. But I do agree.

the simple fact that everyone owns the same car and has simillar tastes. they have the same experiances and can share them easier than say between a few guys who own a hsv, a gtr, an rx3 etc. you get my drift.

ppl just get along better when something in common brings them together.

Thanks matey...but I remember clearly a solo-model car club that was at the Oran Park day when I was there and where the picture was taken actually...they looked down their noses at everybody else there because they thought they were better than everyone else...just because they thought they were king shit, all driving what they drive...

I'm not saying a skyline club will be the same but it's just something that has stuck in my mind as it was wrong and it really got up my nose...

(I'm keeping the clubs name out to avoid a slanging match)

hmm, know what you mean. happens quiet a bit i imagine. it all goes hand in hand with pride. i mean, you have bought a car cause you like it and are proud of it. it's only a matter of time before you get this mental attitude of 'i'm better than everyone else cause i drive this car' just human nature i guess. it'd be nice if we all appreciated all makes and models but then you wouldn't have a wonderous variety of cars.

with a solo-model club, everybody WITHIN the club is close knitted. They share the same interest in cars and can exchange knowledge and expereince about their rides. Sure, you will get clubs like the porsche club who will snob excels, but that just comes with having lots of mioney or whatever... you can't say that just because you have experienced one club snobbing another club, that suddenly any similar-make or solo-model club is going to act in the same way! THAT is called generalising, and is not something that I am fond of.

You keep telling me how N/A power is so much better than forced induction... THAT is narrow minded.

Wooohhhh...chill mate...

I said "I'm not saying a skyline club will be the same"....

And it wasn't a club that was full of rich people...let's just say it was a club that is full of another certain model of jap cars that are pretty common here..

And when I say about NA power being better than Forced induction I say it to pull your leg mate...

So please take a step back and have a deep breath mate...

I'm not trying to start a fight here...

ok...in response...answer me this...what makes a solo model car club close knitted then? [/quote:385d6e7f82]

Well, in my opinion, there are already heaps of clubs around that cater for mixed models of cars...

The whole point of a "club" is getting people together with the same interest, and sharing that interest. While most of us like and appreciate cars of all types, our main "interest" is Skylines.

We still drool over S15's and we don't even pay Minh out (too much) for buying a WRX. And that's part of the reason we will be close knit club. We can see beyond our Skylines, but it's the love of that particular car that will keep us together as a club.

oh and gsi, your idea of a club centred around top speed/performance is not a bad one. Like I said, people want to join a club because of a similar passion and if that's your passion then that might be the club for you.

It's not what i'd be looking for (with my totally stock car LOL) but best of luck with it.

    • New R34 owned here (from the US) and found a gem, '98 GTT with ~6k miles, super clean & completely stock. When shifting there's no grinding, shifts smooth, etc. The concern I have are 2 things: 1) Only in 2nd and 3rd... when maintaining a slower speed (in traffic as an example) as I let off/on the gas, the shifter will slightly move and vibrate. If the clutch is engaged, none of this happens. It's not bad, but enough to feel like something isn't necessarily right. 2) This mainly happen in 4th or 5th... the shifter slightly bounces up and down, almost like it's riding on unbalanced tires (and I do think the tires are unbalanced as I get a little of that bounce feel at higher speeds, which is maybe why it only happens in 4th/5th). Lastly, and sorry for this noob question but I want to work on this car myself, can someone teach me some on these manual transmissions? Like servicing them, best products to use, etc.; would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
    • Coilovers aren't even the first step. Bushes, subframe position and alignment, HICAS elimination, adjustable upper arms and traction arms in order to dial out understeer. All these things need/deserve attention first. ARBs (There's no such thing as a swaybar. Please, everybody, stop calling them that) are useful if you want to limit spring stiffness. Otherwise you can control body roll with springs. Spring and damper rates are a function of road surface, speed and usage. There is no solution that works for all cases.
    • Define "nothing". Is the starter spinning but not the engine? Engine turning but not firing? If the engine is turning but not firing, then you are missing either fuel or spark. You need to find whichever has gone missing.
    • Shitbox Tiguan updates, got the APR OTS tune put back on (no charge for it to be removed/added back), didn't want to just come in just for that (not a fan of wasting people's time for nothing) so I purchased an APR dog bone insert. The boys at German Performance Garage said they would fit it for free too since they had 1x hoist free. Now that's service you don't normally get from most workshops. Anyhow, tune back on, snow grate pulled out, dog bone insert back in and not going to lie, a few smiles when I nailed it around the industrial area heading back onto the M7. Amayama also said 1 to 2.5 month wait for the RB25DE heater hose, yeah why not, car has been off the road for nearly 3, what's a other 2.5?
    • Hmm I'm going to approach this from the other side... What is the car doing that you don't like or what would you like the car to do that is currently isn't doing (handling wise that is)
