Are My Shock Fu**ked? (photos)

hey,

I am getting ready to replace my springs in my car with my stock springs (as my front bar is getting to much damage) 2day i just wanna to have alook wat springs i had in the car and notice something wasn't right. Im not sure if the rubber on my shocks r damage or if the whole shock is fu cked

If my shocks are ****ed, what is a good replace (my car is a SI r33 Gts-t) im not looking for anything 2 $$$$ but i want something good.

It's hard to tell from the photos. The shocks certainly look like they've seen better days! The rubber surround tends to become brittle and break up over time, exposing the shock core to dirt, but the unit itself could still be OK...

in any case, sounds like an excellent excuse for a suspension upgrade!

ohh thankgod , i will get the guy installing my stock springs 2 check it out for me 2, i dont really want to upgrade the suspension at the moment as i am very poor

The shocks themselves maybe OK and if they are it *might* be possible to have new rubbers fitted. That'd probably be the cheapest option.

go to pedders , and they can put it on there shockers test unit . that will tell ya if the stuffed . it should be a free of charge test.

nuffin_werks ; i was told 2 stay clear of pedders as they r fu cked, i can't really say why online but yeah i have heard so many bad stories

General rule of thumb. If shocks have done 60,000 klms then fairly safe to assume that their best days are well behind them. Time for a change I feel.

Not too pricey? Unfortunately I have no idea of the prices in Aus. But when I'm able to upgrade my shocks I'd probably go for Nismo S Tune or maybe Tein...
