sports bikes are the skylines of the motorbike community as far as being pulled over goes. only cos they aren't packin, unlike many harley riders

so i dare say they will be copping it just as bad

hmmm i might go get my exhaust tested so i know where i stand... its got a nice note, not "excessively loud" but far from quiet

its a 3.5" fujitsubo exhaust

i spose if there is no testing equiptment, it comes down to police discretion

my Kakimoto is a 3.5 inch with 2 Jasma mufflers, it's loud enough for now. Dunno if it would pass or not but meh, couldn't really care, been pulled over 2 times in the GTR and one of those was a boozer and not once have they said anything or even popped the hood.

V6 Falcon? I dont think there is V6 Falcon just yet

lol

and guys dont take this as an attack towards imports or our beloved skylines. its any noisy car they see. be it a ford,. holden or your grandmas corolla. if its loud you will get done.

Can some one please clarify 100% what happens if you get done:

-epa notice on suspicion, no fine

-on the spot test, subsequenct epa notice

-on the spot test, fine for 1st offence

-on the spot test, fine for 2nd offence

My car has passed 2 roadworthies with the current exhaust, it's not overly loud but it isn't exactly quiet. I've never been epa'd despite being defected on two seperate occasions.

I would be quite upset if they hand out $580 fines for a car which to my knowledge is legal and first time offence.

classic cars that sound like full blown drag cars will be waved through i bet.

if your under 55 your f**ked.

Hmmm... media accompaniment eh?

What if a group of people get mobilised to show flashcards of Skylines/EVOs/Rexs/'Stangs/Chevvies to the general public - and invite the media along for that? The purpose is to ask the general masses if they'd prefer the police minister/government to cut out noisy cars (of enthusiasts) or to spend more time/manpower on drug crime & alcohol related violence???

I'm over 55 and I know how I'd vote if you approached me in Swanston/Collins/Flinders St. Yes, invite the media to come along.

You shouldn't be surpised at the result. The above strategy is more constructive than just meeting at KKs and have a whinge.

thos will all have the same outcome 1st or 10th offence if your exhaust is over when they test it on the side of the road or whatever you will get fined, if you get a letter in the mail to go get it tested at your local exhaust place or whatever you wont get a fine, you'll get an oppertunity to fix it same as if you get summond for a test then you can fix it before hand and not get done

someone might correct me here but your roadworthy hasnt got anything to do with how loud your exhaust is its a seperate jurisdiction so that wont help you much.

could be wrong though

is their any way of making the exhaust a bit quieter without those ugly silencers ???

option 1 - Put a stocky on

option 2 - Steel wool! (dodgy, plus sparky ember things will fly out your hole on WOT...heheheh hole)

option 3 - get a custom legal exhaust made up

option 4 - i can't think of anymore options

    • Euros are shitboxes man. My next car going to be a Lexus or Hyundai.
    • Maybe I used the wrong sandwich plate as well. Used one piece instead of two piece.
    • Y'know what, after reading a topic on a 360kw build using a nistune (who ended up going LINK), im now considering a LINK over a nistune. The engine protection alone would probably be worth it. And id like to learn to tune so would be nice to have that safe guard. Which means i probably wont need a boost controller then, or the R35 MAF.  Becoming a bit of a blog now but oh wells. As mentioned previously, the goal is around 300kw, for a daily driver. Will be looking at fitting a highflow turbo or similar (something that doesnt require downpipes, manifolds etc to be changed out) when the current stock gives out or the money for it is there.
    • Thanks guys. Are you meant to tighten the converter bolts through the starter motor hole? Think my plate between gearbox and engine is one piece. Im heading up there tomorrow.
    • Picked my tailshaft up yesterday arv!! Test fit it and because they've gone to a ford centre bearing and CV I had to modify the mounting bracket a little bit. 5mm of each side and she went up into position and fits well. It has a 1350 uni and flange on the gearbox end so it should be plenty strong!  Got stuck in this morning and started on the wiring mess. Cut out all the wires not required that go to the body connector and cut the engine harness out. Need to go through and work out which ones I need to keep and rewire into the new ecu. Should save a small amount of weight as well. I'd love to get in and rip the dash and everything out to completely remove wiring but cbf.  Next up was the power harness for alternator, starter etc. It has a few connectors from factory that run out of it. Cut it all apart and removed what was no longer required and put some new corro and taped it all back up and bolted it all back into place.  After that I worked out where I can mount the new flex sensor. Found a couple of factory bolt holes and drilled a new hole on the bracket to suit. Need to go get a few fittings and adapters tomorrow so I can keep going.
