Any advice on which job you would choose:

Eikaiwa job (Shizuoka)

ALT (assistant language teacher) (Gifu)

Pay and working hours are virtually the same.

Apartment may be better in Shizuoka but not confirmed.

ALT job - big company, Eikaiwa - small company

Thanks in advance

iv never worked as an eikaiwa monkey so i cant really comment but from what ive heard i dont really want to do that after being an ALT for three years.....

i would choose ALT. mainly for the much better and longer holidays!!!!!! and normal saturdays and sunday as holidays. but then in japan your normal days off dont really matter too much as everything is always open anyway.

did i mention the better holidays....hahaha

ALT, maybe 8 weeks to 10 weeks a year where as an eikaiwa job is normal holidays plus 10 extra that cant be taken in sequence.

plus gifu gets awesome snow in winter

Thanks mate, will probably go for the ALT job - even though I do get lots of holidays with it I also get less pay during those months. Probably be good to have experience at both ALT and Eikaiwa for long term job prospects. (I have a bit over a year of Eikaiwa). Can I ask which company you are an ALT with? .....PM me if you prefer

Yeah I went snowboarding in Takasu this January - awesome place. Sadly I am not an ambiturner when it comes to snowboarding, took most of the day before I could turn right without using my face as a snowplough.

    • I went back in today (I just wander into the body shop on a 2 week interval now). Hmmm. Slowly but surely! Various other parts around the place done/half done/inside done but outside yet to do, etc. Still have no real idea as to what colour this car is, just like all the BMW's I saw online (and in person). Just looks a different shade of colour from any angle at any picture taken of it. The differing levels of dust obviously do not help.
    • I managed to win under 2L turbo/4L NA class championship in our club with a single set of AR1s, including several wet rounds, and they were still getting faster end of the season 0_0 For $800 in 255/17 I was very pleased (7yrs ago so adjust for inflation)
    • But to be fair, I think people have gone faster on Bob Jane All Rounders than AR1's; particularly if it's wet.
    • Completely know where you're coming from. Its a double edged sword because I want to go to events and see cars because it would bring me a lot of excitement in high school and the P plater glory days being able to see a bunch of sick cars in one place but as the cool cars become unjustifiably expensive and all people can afford to modify and bring out is regular traffic cars it all becomes a bit less exciting.
    • I daily mine, have done so for 25 years. But I do not participate in the "car scene" outside of here. I don't like hanging out with the "car scene" very much. Too much yobbo, too much exposure (to yobbos, cops, etc).
