I know everyone has their different opionion but I'd just like to say that I'm sticking to the Motul 6300 oil (I think that's it). I regularly change my oil every 3 months. On my last oil change, I decided to go with Mobil1, the car didn't seem to like it too much and after fitting my FMIC I couldn't see any changes with fuel economy (which I thought you would).

So anyway, the time came to change oil over the weekend and I was disgusted to see what my oil looked like!!! It was jet black, bubbly and well, you get the picture.

After putting in the new oil, I just got 480km out of a tank! Previously the car was just pushing 400km...

I have to agree that Motul is pretty good stuff. I had been running Castrol 5W-30, but swapped over to the thicker Motul 8100 5W-40 which is designed for turbo cars. I had no problems with Castrol beforehand, but I wanted something a bit thicker for the summer. It was the same price as the Castrol 5W-30 (but less than the 0W-40 and 10W-60), and I have found it's pretty much the same or better. Oil pressure has increased slightly but noticably, and my economy hasn't suffered at all. Since my economy remains the same I may as well keep running the thicker oil all year round.

I'll be sticking to Motul in future. I think because it's not as widely known about as Mobil, Shell, Castrol, etc, it tends to cost less for the same or more quality.

Motul 4100 or 8100 is the only Oil I use in my car. My baby purrs so I don't see any need to change (although I don't have any fancy gauges etc to keep tabs on anything).

Costs me $40 at the local Autobahn, speaking of which i'll be clocking up my 5,000km tomorrow so looks like im doing an oil change this weekend. :headspin:

If you want the best, use Motul 300V if you have deep pockets :P

But yeah, Motul is definitely up there with the best.

Btw, jet black oil doesnt mean its shagged, especially with a full synthetic like Mobil 1. Usually just contaminated from blowby and internal engine cleaning.

I have only used motul 4100 turbolight (10w40) and I find it great. Its a semi synthetic, and it still comes out with a bit of a gold tinge after a tough 5000-7000ks.

Everybody I know that has used the Motul 300V Chrono has given it a big thumbs up, I will use it when I have done some more mods and running a bit more power (and my pockets are deeper).

Genisis32 - 4100 turbolight will go alright in a RB25DE - a mate at work is running it in his 33 gts (NA)....

I got mine from Autobarn in Chatswood and cost $55. I think all Autobarns carry it, but best to ring them first as mine was the last bottle on the shelf.

The guy tried to talk me out of buying it, he said it was too thin :confused: I asked him what he would recommend then, he said at least 5W-50 for street driving and 10W-60 for the track. I told him factory spec was 7.5W-30, and he said that was fine on a new, unmodified engine then started going on how I'd spin bearings etc even with a 40 weight oil and light mods.

I bought it anyway because I trust what I've researched on the web and what guys in here have had to say about their oil, and so far my bearings are fine. In theory they should have shit themselves while I was running the Castrol 5W-30 for the 10000km before this.

    • Yep that's pretty much what I want to see. Racecars that look and sound like the Group A but with newer tech underneath to make them faster and safer. I'm sure there's enough VK-to-VN commodore, E30 BMWs and Foxbody mustangs shells around to make up a decent number of cars with hopefully a couple of sierras, rx7 and R31s in there too. 
    • Contact Jessestreeter.com/Skevas Racing/JustJap for a new r34 rb gearbox or go a cd00# conversion. No point playing with unknown condition gearboxes.
    • Such a shame places like Amaroo Park have been redeveloped, smaller tracks always make for good racing. Cheers for sharing @PranK there's some good Lakeside video's too. Its so hard with older the cars as parts are so rare and everything was made for a particular chassis at that point in time. Even the V8 Supercar Blueprint era cars are all different between each chassis within a team as they learnt things and made improvements. The COTF cars between each Chassis builder is different too especially motor/oil systems/intakes. The Group A stuff is worth so much too especially chassis with good history. The only way to do it would be composite panels and similar engine drivelines to the original cars. Ford sierra running Focus RS driveline, Commodore running a short stroke LS/LT or a Falcon with coyote and a H Pattern dog box. Could use a standard ecu across all models with a Torque Map and DBW for parity which is not even used in Supercars currently. Hell a TCM is almost a full chassis car these days and the suspension is not even close to standard style in the front running cars.  
    • Dashcams Australia (13/05/25) captured JDMHSE (Vic plate) being a right tosser. 
    • Wish someone would start a racing series for Group A replica cars, a bit like Touring Car Masters but for 1985 onwards and not grandpa's falcon and/or Monaro. I know they race in some historic class but that's for original cars, no replicas allowed.
