Nm35 Stagea Starter Motors - Insane Expensive

well i just got off the phone to nissan parts.. sobering very sobering.

apparently the 2002 nm35 stagea vq25det part number for a starter motor is this :- 23300-AL600 -$1400 3 weeks to order none in country

the j32 maxima does not suit.. the guy was looking at the bolt pattern its different again.

there was also a 2002 350z one with the part number 23300-AL900 that was $1495 - none in country and also 3 weeks to get in. (the 02-07 350z have 4 different part numbers and he wasnt sure)

i did mention the vq25dd and he said it was the same part number. so that blows that out of the water.

hmm.. looks like starter motors are more of a bitch than once thought.

also that part that you quoted me iamhe77 the nissan parts guy said it was a bolt :( - unless he was clueless - or didnt take the part number correctly.

looks like second hand or import monster as a backup option for now..if i can find one.

Jetwreck - wanna make some money on your old motor ?

Son of a.... looking at the picture, I was after the part number for the entire unit, which is pictured in the top corner, but it is not completely bordered in (which I missed)...

Long story short.... my f**k up. Sorry :(

I guess you will be looking at Yahoo Auctions then... or local wreckers

import monster have several on there. ive seen them. unfortunately you need to go through over 100 pages of stuff. risky because you end up buying other stuff too

anyway, go through ALL the pages, there will be some very cheap starter motors, and some very expensive ones. just put them on your watch list and select the most cost effective ones.

OK Auckland wrecker has M35 Stagea 2.5L starter $195 + 15% GST with warranty - postage would be less than $100 I would guess. Anyone want it? (You would have to pay in advance as I am currently broke until next payday - thursday). If you want I can go there, take a photo, write down any part numbers.

in regards to rebuild

was advised by others they are non rebuildable if the copper coil inside them goes. - and had heard on the grape vine people had spent money to get them assessed to find it a dead end.

sorry only just saw this Kiwi! - thats a reasonable price because im paying about the same from import monster including shipping but yours would evidently get here alot faster. owell!

thanks for the reply though.. but good to know..thinking someone should just buy it anyway as theyre rare as hens teeth it seems.

thanks for the leg work and offer also.. appreciate it ;)

U can get them fully reco'ed, most auto elecs will and can do them. Ive had a few done over the years, its worth it considering if you buy a second hand one you dont really know what your buying. It could shit itself and they dont usually come with any warranty where as if you reco then they normally give you a 12 month warranty with it. I know what id be doing.

    • New R34 owned here (from the US) and found a gem, '98 GTT with ~6k miles, super clean & completely stock. When shifting there's no grinding, shifts smooth, etc. The concern I have are 2 things: 1) Only in 2nd and 3rd... when maintaining a slower speed (in traffic as an example) as I let off/on the gas, the shifter will slightly move and vibrate. If the clutch is engaged, none of this happens. It's not bad, but enough to feel like something isn't necessarily right. 2) This mainly happen in 4th or 5th... the shifter slightly bounces up and down, almost like it's riding on unbalanced tires (and I do think the tires are unbalanced as I get a little of that bounce feel at higher speeds, which is maybe why it only happens in 4th/5th). Lastly, and sorry for this noob question but I want to work on this car myself, can someone teach me some on these manual transmissions? Like servicing them, best products to use, etc.; would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
    • Coilovers aren't even the first step. Bushes, subframe position and alignment, HICAS elimination, adjustable upper arms and traction arms in order to dial out understeer. All these things need/deserve attention first. ARBs (There's no such thing as a swaybar. Please, everybody, stop calling them that) are useful if you want to limit spring stiffness. Otherwise you can control body roll with springs. Spring and damper rates are a function of road surface, speed and usage. There is no solution that works for all cases.
    • Define "nothing". Is the starter spinning but not the engine? Engine turning but not firing? If the engine is turning but not firing, then you are missing either fuel or spark. You need to find whichever has gone missing.
    • Shitbox Tiguan updates, got the APR OTS tune put back on (no charge for it to be removed/added back), didn't want to just come in just for that (not a fan of wasting people's time for nothing) so I purchased an APR dog bone insert. The boys at German Performance Garage said they would fit it for free too since they had 1x hoist free. Now that's service you don't normally get from most workshops. Anyhow, tune back on, snow grate pulled out, dog bone insert back in and not going to lie, a few smiles when I nailed it around the industrial area heading back onto the M7. Amayama also said 1 to 2.5 month wait for the RB25DE heater hose, yeah why not, car has been off the road for nearly 3, what's a other 2.5?
    • Hmm I'm going to approach this from the other side... What is the car doing that you don't like or what would you like the car to do that is currently isn't doing (handling wise that is)
