cant defect u if your not at the car. Lock it up and walk away. :D

u can be defected if ur not at ur car. I know of two people that have been defected in the marion car park while they were shopping. they left a note under the windscreen wiper and the defect sticker on the outside of the front windscreen.

also if i go to victoria on a holiday can the victorian cops defectme ?

They can defect u but... most people rip the sticker off when they get back to adelaide. They may be different road rules but once the information gets to adelaide that u were defected they still classify that ur car is unroadworthy. most people will get away wit ripping it off but if they pull u over and find out u were defected in vic its the same penalties.

  • 2 weeks later...

i heard you are immune to defects from other states.

i regulary travel to Adelaide, and ive been pulled over NUMERIOUS times and when they look at the rego, and the licence EVERY single time they have said "no point going over the car" or something to that effect... this has happened at least 8 times in the last year of travels to Adel.

so im under the idea that im 'immune' to your defect laws.. im sure if it was a rust bucket etc etc they might do something (if they bothered to pull me over in the first place) but for the majority of times ive been pulled over, ive had no problems as so ever :)

oh, and to clarify, if they wanted to be cops about my car, simple defects would include,

too low (58mm clearance front bar)

too dark tint

too big rims (19" - stock = 15" / 4" over regs)

so in theory, thats enough for me to get raped over, then they could start on the engine / interior *rolls eyes*

Well there was a gold coloured skyline that was down from vic, visiting his family for a while and he got defected for his T wing. Ive heard of numerous cars from vic being defected here and like wise in vic.

I also went into motor and reg and asked them, as i am taking a venture to melbourne soon. They said that u can be defected but the info takes a while to get to adelaide.

It all depends on wat u were doing and the cop u come across, kind of like in our own state.

I may be wrong but its wat ive heard and seen.

    • Did a little bit this afternoon and pulled the dump and turbo off so I could take the mani off to clean it up and give it a few coats of paint. Wire wheeled what I could get to and then got the sand paper out to get the tight spots. Gave it one coat so far, will do another two tomorrow and see if I can fit it in the oven to bake it for an hour along with the adapter and dbw.  Hoping the exhaust wrap I ordered turns up soon so I can wrap the dump and screamer. Ordered 30M so I'll wrap back as far as I can to help a little with temp next to the box and also the floorpan.
    • Yeah I think overall I’m running the expected power I should be running for now and I’ll just enjoy it for the time being until I get some other parts. Thanks for the advice mate I appreciate it!
    • That's fair enough.  Might be time to just enjoy what you have until you sort the ecu/flex sensor situation. You can pretty much guarantee that you are knock limited and e85 is going to be the solution to more power.
    • He didn’t provide that info to me but I think I’m on standard timing. And no we don’t have e85 on the petrol stations here but it’s widely available here from shops. I’m just planning on getting a better ecu before switching to e85
    • Seems bang on to me , g30-900 will make 900 crank on e85(on paper). Deduct ~25% for 98 and you are at 675 crank. Run that to the wheels and fact you are only running 26psi you end up about your number.  People forget how magic E85 is now that just about everyone is running it.   "Back in the day" you had to be north of 30psi on a 850+hp turbo to get 600 at the wheels on 98.
