Rocker Covers - Paint or Powder Coat.

I need to get my rocker covers either painted or powder coated.

One thing that concerned me is when looking under the rocker covers they have what looks like a type of red/pink silicon. The silicon helps seal the sections where the oil breathers & oil filler go.

I went to a powder coaters, he said due to the oil stains in the alloy he would have to get them acid dipped first. (I didn't think Alloy likes to be acid dipped?!?) Powder coat them then heat them up to near 200degree's.

Any recommendations peoples?

I'm after a gloss black look. With some polished bits the gloss black should look nice.

I am sure that painting is fine. Two to three coats of grey primer then four to six layers of the colour then clear for another three times. This will allow for a nice finish and wll stop the heat cracking that happens when not painted properly. You will need to clean the area up so speak to painters etc get what has to be done it should be ok to acid dip alloy not sure but it realy cleans everything off. Good luck budy

I got the rocker covers powder coated bright red on a 4age i had years ago. worked fine.

I got my alloy rims powder coated about 2 years ago and they were acid dipped and glass beaded as well.

The powder coater should know what can and can't be done though...

Painting is probably easier/quicker/cheaper.

How much would it cost to get them power coated roughly?

I was just thinking of pulling mine off and either painting myself or power coating.

Wouldnt I need to use high temp paint if u got a high mount turbo like mine?
