i brought 20mm noe tech ones on ebay for the R34 and have done a trackday at wakefield with them on so they pretty strong

They are not hub centric type..

Having said this, cars in the past of mine have had the normal type (& 20mm plus) and never had a problem after many many years of use. It's just better to not have the load directly being taken by the wheel studs.

You just got to remember that getting hub centric spacers dont fit all! Wheels have different bore sizes so be careful.
