Yeah that looks very well set-up, turn in is so crisp with little to no understeer despite the late braking. Does exactly what he wants.

Compare that to this from Scorch;

BTW is Nemo's speedo correct??

The top speed was somewhere in the 240km mark down the straight which seems quite slow for the time they are running. Last year the Sierra EVO was claiming to hit 298km down the straight and even JET200 stated they hit 260km.

It is only when you start to compare the Time Attack times with the Eastern Creek Lap records do you start to realise how quick some of the cars are going. Today was dry but very windy and seriously cold so getting tyre temps up would have been a challenge all day.

We caught up with Russman today and he was coming to grips with the track and the conditions and improving as the day progressed. To do a 1.39.6 in the conditions was a great result that he hopefullly will improve on tomorrow. :banana:

^^^ Its a different track and quicker than the old layout. Its virtually pointless in comparing the times other than trying to estimate how much quicker the track actually is.

Without having driven the new track the changes appear to be;

  • looks to be an increased exit on turn 3 (might be wrong here)
  • definite increased exit on turn 5
  • removal of turn 7, making a quicker turn 6
  • increased exit on the old turn 9
  • improved surface on most of the track

Nemo is extremely fast!

One impressive thing is aero. There's just a lift in T1!

Sustained lateral g up to and around 2g. There's plenty of pace left. He's not even in qualifying mode of driving yet - it's clearly seen that he's driving calmly. Very impressive aero work. Is there any videos with logged accelerations from 2011 WTAC top cars?

That's just a nailed chassis. The way it changes direction and settles at speed is incredible, but doesn't suprise me coming from the guys who are responsible for the geometry, it could have been an Evo/wrx/GTR it didn't matter to them.

The 240k top speed was correct for that lap too.

You won't see warren hustling the car like I think your expecting to see in this "qualifying mode" it just won't happen.

His calm and precise everytime he drives.

It is f very well sorted chassis no dubt about it. I'm a professional race engineer. To me this doesn't look like all out 110% lap. It's not that he has to start fighting the ill handling car to make it look fast to me :). Ask any race engineer - every car on earth when absolutely on the limit will constantly be oversteering/understeering (back and forth during even one corner) to some degree. Very well sorted cars it would not be drastic changes requiring large corrections from the driver. I think some of you guys are actually there - just ask Warren if that lap was him taking absolut maximum out of the car. It's most evident under braking.

Button is good example - as smooth and calm driving style as he is there's a visible difference in his normal lap and qualy lap.

My humble opinion is that there's still more to come.

Can't wait for Syber Evo to show their hand.

It obviously has a pretty good chassis setup, but when all that horsepower equates to just 240kph top speed and 220kph minimum T1 speed, it's fairly obvious the aero-grip is the difference between it and the others, rather than its chassis. That's where the really impressive grip is coming from.

It obviously has a pretty good chassis setup, but when all that horsepower equates to just 240kph top speed and 220kph minimum T1 speed, it's fairly obvious the aero-grip is the difference between it and the others, rather than its chassis. That's where the really impressive grip is coming from.

you have to wonder how much the aero effected top speed. who cares though when you can dispatch turn one like it were a mere kink

anyone notice what times chris eaton put down relative to luffy?

phonomenal times by lots of teams this year

A low point was the debarcle that occured in the clubsprint class, which will most likely result in the top two finishers being disqualified due to 'illegal' mods for their class.

The rules and regs really need to be re-written to take out the ambiguity that arises within the clubsprint class in regards to what mods are actually allowed.

Also, does scrutineering before the event actually look to see if the car can compete in it's chosen class?

The car that won the class had fibreglass guards ffs, which is clearly not allowed, but nothing was said until a formal protest had to be put in(which cost $600) after the event.

Bitching then occured which saw the second placed entrant being scrutinised for a detachable steering wheel, which they want to disqualify him for.
