Hi All,

I recently purchased an R33 GTS-T from a fellow forum member. It came with a custom steering wheel which is a deep conical shape and obviously with a boss unit. I had a problem with the indicator not cancelling when turning the steering wheel and being a deep dish steering wheel you actually have to move your hand off the steering wheel to flick the indicator on and off so halving my unnecessary movement would be awesome.

I cracked upon the column and took off the indicator stalk to see how it works and why it wasn't auto cancelling. I will write this in hopes that it can potentially be used as a tutorial for those who have the same problem.

So in the above photo, you can see the white plastic part A with the protruding knob sticking out which is what passes through B. In this current state, the indicator is off, so the plastic part of the indicator stalk is depressed.

Now part D of the indicator stalk is protruding so when you turn the steering wheel. Using an example of turning right, as you turn the steering wheel clock wise, part C (also part A from above) will pass part D which will allow it to pass without resistance. As you straighten up and turn the steering wheel anti clock wise, part C passes part D but this time resets it to its initial position (B).

The problem I'm having is that there is nothing attached to the white plastic ring where part A and C are, thus nothing is turning it which means the indicator isn't cancelling.

I was thinking of just running a few strips of scrap whatever I have lying around and supergluing them from part F to E as part E doesn't seem to have much resistance when trying to turn it (I could turn it fairly easily using my fingers).

Or I was thinking of just putting two strips in the position of the protrusions on the white plastic ring from part F so when I turn the steering wheel, that part turns as well and will flick off the indicator, however there may not be enough strength to this before it begins to wear out.

Has any one with this problem been able to engineer something a bit better than what I'm thinking?

Cheers
