Manufacture Date Or Compliance Date

Can someone assist, the attached photo is of the compliance plate for a Series 3 R33 GTR.

I've been told by some that the '97 reference after the model description is the compliance date, however I felt it was the manufacture date.

Anyone know for certain. I believe this car came to the country quite new, however this would make it almost brand new into Aust.

Correct me if im wrong but i think the compliance date was on the 08/2000

8/97 is the build date of the car

08 / 00 is compliance.
