Mixing Medium And Soft Compound Tyres

Hi all,

I'd like a little advice, I've currently got a set of Dunlop 03Gs in their soft compound but have gotten a puncture in one of the tyres.

I don't want to be racing with a repair job on them but I do have access to a set of 3 Dunlop 03Gs in their medium compound, one has low tread.

Would there be any issues in running a pair of the softs and a pair of the mediums?

I was thinking softs for the fronts and mediums for the rear.

The 2 sets of tyres are of the same width and diameter, 235/40/18. I race at winton with a jzx100 chaser.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Adam

In My case they are different widths front to rear so the wider has to go on the rear for clearance...which happen to be the soft compound. Wont be the end of the world. The way I turn in early and have no grunt...lol I will probably overheat the fronts before the soft rears :)

I was thinking the exact same thing at one point there, Roy.

Around Winton I'd kill the fronts before the rears and having the mediums up front wouldn't be such a bad idea. My car tends to oversteer also on corner entry so softs out back personally wouldn't have been so bad.

I'm not going to find out either way, the other set of D03Gs sold so I decided to get a set of 33 GTR wheels and get new semis altogether..

Question now is what semis :P
