300Gt - Info Needed

Hey guys im looking at buying a 2001 HV35 300GT But wanted to know how easy it is to get parts for them and if they are reasonably priced or not. I have no idea about imports or where to get parts :s

Any information is appreciated!

It has fairly high k's but will this be much of a problem? Ive read the engine is quite reliable in these cars.

Offer him $10,000 and tell him to put 6 months rego on it. If the service history is good then go for it, drive the car and listen for creaks/rattles turn the sound off and drive it over good & bad roads.

I can't see this being a bad buy, also make sure you do a REVS check on the car if you're paying cash to make sure it's not either A) Written off or B) Stolen.

EDIT: Also get a GOOD mechanic to check the car right through from electricals to engine and make sure you're not going to run into problems the minute you drive away in it.

With the parts, most of the 350gt or G35 sedan parts from the US fits onto the 300gt.

Price for aftermarket parts are fairly high mainly because of the shipping from overseas, but stock parts are pretty reasonably priced if you get them from wreckers.

Are you looking at engine parts or just body?

Was mainly looking at mechanical parts so i have a rough idea of what it will cost if it develops any problems and for regular wear and tear like brake pads, filters, belts etc. I havent had an import before so just doing some research

A lot of basic parts ie pads, fluids etc, are readily available. Your local supercheap or autobarn should be able to get them for you.

As with any performance vehicle, the cost of the parts tends to carry a premium.

If the mod bug was to bite, then costs can sky rocket as upgrades tend to be sourced from Japan or the US. Let's just say that shipping companies enjoying using a nightstick to penetrate you in ungodly ways when calculating the cost of freight of large/heavy items.

Those are really high kms though!

Get the guy to remove cost of rego etc, look at high 10s-ish, drive it to TAS and rego it there.

Edit: With any car, particularly performance cars, drop all the fluids when you buy it and give the system new quality fluids.

Would really prefer something local. Shame the one i was looking at originally has such high ks on it

I had a 300GT previously. They are a nice car to cruise in but don't come in here asking how to make it go faster unless you have deep deep pockets. Parts are no more than locally delivered cars. Suspension parts are interchangeable with the 350z. Body parts are identical to series 1 350gt. $11k is not a bad buy if the car has been mechanically looked after. But like any 2nd hand car buying one with high kms, don't expect it to NOT have any issues.
