Although this build has been underway for about 2 years and I've been posting about it in the classic Skylines section I thought I'd let you guys know in here too. It was going to hit the track soon but I found some rust so decided the drop the motor/box and do it all properly. Here's where it's currently at. For more check out the classic section of the forums.

Hopefully by the end of the year, budget permitting. I will build a basic engine/gearbox combo just to see me through until I can build a proper engine. I'll be running s standard style gearbox for the moment so really don't want anymore than about 300hp which will be fine while I fine tune everything else.

The engine is ready to come out to fix this bloody rust. Might as well save a bit more and get the whole inside and out painted... it will never be this apart ever again. Just need to strip some window trim, rear bumper and lights and it will be completely stripped (once engine and box are out).

Got started on the bodywork side of things today. Was cutting the rear guard until I ran out of disc - so that will have to be continued. Not looking forward to the actual cutting and welding up of the rust areas but hopefully I can do a reasonable job of it. Might need to practice with the TIG for a while before I hit any of those thin panels! On the strut tower the good news is it's only through a single skin. The bad news is I dont know how easy it will be to cut a single skin out. Looks like there are some spot welds that might need to go.

New pistons (9.5:1) as well as gismo bearings and new timing chains have arrived. Dry sump setup is getting a few mods. Should have a new engine by the end of January! Then I can start on the smaller details and get it back together, with the aim of getting it finished by mid March.

There's been change of direction now... we have been developing motorsport uprights and now brake callipers, so we're going to town with the car, as something a bit different to the usual time attack cars.

This isn't a caliper we're using on this car, but it's our first motorsport caliper we've been developing. Getting ready for final testing. We'll be doing a 2 spot, 2 x 4 spots and 2 x 6 spots to suits discs from 280mm up to 380mm.

Nice!! Need any guinea cops to Beta test these for you? What thickness discs are you making them for? What mount style? (radial I'm guessing, though it doesn't look that way in the photo)

Will they fit under a 15" rim comfortably on a 300mm disc? (looking like they would sh!t it in, given the low profile relative to pad location).

I think all testing will be done in house. We'd love to have guinea cops but they are brakes after all, can't really risk it!

These ones will suit a 28mm disc but will also cater for a 30 and 32 in bigger sizes with the other calipers. Depends on the rim but I think we were aiming for a 315mm disc inside the right 15" rim but a 300mm should be fine in most 15" wheels.

All will be radially mounted (except one historic style caliper we're doing which has lug mounts)

Guinea cop??

Fkn autocorrect!!

All good, man. Testing brake systems on a race track? What could possibly go wrong?

I'll be testing my custom (Warps-Eng designed and built) adjustable twin master pedal box in the coming months. Stupid IPRA regs prevent you using any of the many off the shelf bolt-in units.

Front upright has been designed. Awaiting new 3D scanner to arrive to finalise the chassis side of things. Have some unique stuff that will be going on at the rear of the car. More about this though when I get to the design. In the mean time will be finishing off the designs for the brakes, hubs and wheels. Inside pickup points will be determined once the scans are done as this will dictate where the cage has to be extended.
