Rear wheels uneven..PLEASE HELP

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, I just lowered my R32 GTSt, and have noticed that the rear wheels are very uneven as to how they sit under the guards. The right side has more camber and sits further into the wheel arch than the left. I will try to post pictures tomorrow, but does anyone have any ideas?? It may have been that way before, I didn't notice if it was, maybe cos the suspension was higher. Is it possibly something bent in the rear sub-frame?? Is this going to cost me an arm and a leg to fix? Please help, any info would be appreciated.....

I used to have a VS Commodore V8 with IRS. That was lowered with the whiteline kit.

It had massive camber on the rear end and from memory the left wheel had more camber and appeard to sit up in the guard slightly more.

What the bloke did was fit the $500 4 way camber and castor kit then to even the car out he placed small spacers under or on top of the springs. Due to the left wheel having more camber when the camber was corrected the left side sat higher. hence the right hand side also had to come up slightly with those spacer things I was talking about.

I had my suspension done at a Bridgestone suspension and steering place.

So yer its not a big deal. :)

Measure it form the centre of the wheel to the guard (vertically) on all 4 corners. Then post the results up and I can give you some idea of what may be wrong. :)

    • Last weekend I changed out the noisy bearing in the rear. It went fine except the axle was super stuck in the hub. I eventually got it all swapped out over two days. The car is so much quieter but the ABS light came on. I freaked out thinking I'd put the bearing in backwards or used one without the integrated magnet for the speed sensor (lower E90's use a ring attached to the axle rather than built into the bearing). I checked the 2nd bearing I got, seems I got it right (black side in first). I bought a new Bosch speed sensor from eBay which arrived today, 10 mins to fit and cleared codes. No more ABS light.  My gut says I probably damaged it when pressing the bearings in and out as it kinda hangs in a bad spot - i should have removed it. Anyway, whatever, its quiet and fixed. I think the front bearings are ready for changing now, I can hear very slight noise that would have been masked by the dead rear one. Front ones are bolt in thankfully. Also bought the Nolathane rear subframe bushes and a Whiteline 16mm rear sway bar (OE is 13mm). I had this bar on my 330i but cbf'd removing it so just got another. The subframe needs to be lowered to fit the bar so i'll do bushes and bar at the same time. I was really temped to get solid aluminium bushes but they are really expensive and the whole subframe has to come out, not just be dropped which is not something I'm keen to do.
    • who'd have thought and  some compression 🤔
    • Nice car! Looks like a good base for "restomod"ification. 👍 My first (and to date only 😔) Skyline was an HCR32 2-door so a big fan of these.
