Help With Fault Finding Attesa System/ Attesa Ecu (c34)

4wd isn't working and so trying to diagnose.

Tried to bleed the system yesterday but after disconnecting the green/white plug (pic attached), The pump didn't run and i could take the bleed valve completely out of the transfer case.

Someone suggested getting access to the Attesa ECU and reading the faults from that via flashing LED. I got to the ecu but i couldn't see any blinking lights or anywhere that could blink? (pictures attached)
Am i missing something here?

Fuse blown or removed?

Could be the power relay for the attessa too, I think there is one for the pump motor and one for the ecu.

I don't think so, the fuse under the bonnet i checked and it working. I don't think there's one in the cabin is there?

relay near the booster clicks, is that the relay you're talking about?

Yes the one just before it turns over.

Well. First you need to get the pump running. Have you visually inspected it?

Checked fuses as mentioned

It actually had a switch which i got told was to switch it between 2wd and 4wd;

It has a blue and green wire running up into the green plug pictured below. The green plug wasn't plugged into anything and after a bit more looking i found the black box next to the fuse box on the plastic and plugged it back in. (Anyone know what this box is?).

I still don't think the pump is running but i'm about to try and bleed it again.

Ummm. What car is this for? Not a 32....

Series 2 C34 Stagea.

Update;

Good News - Pump may be working now as the torque gauge goes to halfway once the green plug from the first post is unplugged.

Bad News - No fluid is coming out of the bleeder nipple at the transfer case.. Any ideas? I tried turning the ignition off and on x20 to see if it would push the air out but it doesn't seem to be working. What would it mean if i've got a reading on the front torque gauge but no fluid getting to the bleed nipple?

On an S1 at least, the "flashing led" is actually on the PCB of the ECU, and is visible through a small hole in the case of the ECU. Also extremely difficult to see when its tucked away. Youll also need to check it while the engine is running after you've noticed a 4WD warning light on the dash. After a rash of 4WD errors I had, I drilled a tiny hole in the interior trim. Then I can stick a small camera, like a phone cam up the hole and record the flashes.

Followed this thread from facebook lol. The torque gauge isn't a measurement I'm afraid, just a setpoint from the attesa controller, doesnt actually mean the torque is being applied to the fronts.

Yep, looks like you're right. Damn. Pump isn't working

Hmm, i might have to wait until nightfall to see. I just bolted the ecu back into place.

Anyone know what the plugs posted below are for? I'm guessing the Blue one is for the pump (Has power both when the green plug from the first post is plugged in or not?)

Anyone know what this other one is for? it goes to various parts around the pump to other parts however does not get power whether the green plug is plugged in or not?

  • 3 weeks later...

Found a way to get the error codes (http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/190973-4wd-light-for-s2s)

I got 74 (E-TS/LSD actuator motor) and 76 (Pressure Switch)

Where would I find the pressure switch / how to test and is there a way to directly run the pump to see if it works? E.g. bypass the pressure switch if that's what turns it on?
