Driver training?

Didn't know that was even a thing. Just saw the event and the car sort of semi-works so decided to bite the bullet, go slow and have fun!

As for the days, most of the negative reviews seemed to be from a few years ago, but thought people posting here may have more up to date information if there's anything terrible to look out for.

There are often Driver Training groups on the days we participate in where you can be un-timed and have someone sit in with you to show you the lines/braking points etc.

Tampered are a little bit different, you can select Novice/Beginner etc but they allow passengers to run in all cars but you have to pay $20 for the privilege - I don't know if our club has a special deal agreed with Tampered to cover off driver instruction, Andrew?

Track was a bit grippier, starting to rip apart in some areas though.

I was talking to one of the scruitineers, apparently they are going to have to resurface it again!

Otherwise it was a great day, apart from the large amount of cars there!!

Heaps of cars, sounds like a typical tampered day. I've only done a couple myself but found they still tend to run quite smoothly for the amount of cars they get. So surface coming apart, dodgy rush job then?

The sessions were ran ok, but we were waiting over an hour and a half at some points till we were on track again!

Must be, though for around 3 million you would expect better, hey?

    • Yeah I think overall I’m running the expected power I should be running for now and I’ll just enjoy it for the time being until I get some other parts. Thanks for the advice mate I appreciate it!
    • That's fair enough.  Might be time to just enjoy what you have until you sort the ecu/flex sensor situation. You can pretty much guarantee that you are knock limited and e85 is going to be the solution to more power.
    • He didn’t provide that info to me but I think I’m on standard timing. And no we don’t have e85 on the petrol stations here but it’s widely available here from shops. I’m just planning on getting a better ecu before switching to e85
    • Seems bang on to me , g30-900 will make 900 crank on e85(on paper). Deduct ~25% for 98 and you are at 675 crank. Run that to the wheels and fact you are only running 26psi you end up about your number.  People forget how magic E85 is now that just about everyone is running it.   "Back in the day" you had to be north of 30psi on a 850+hp turbo to get 600 at the wheels on 98.
    • I can believe it if you're getting air into the pickup. Cavitation is tremendously destructive for pumps.
