Did you get the 230mm version?

I’ve got the solid center version and it’s a dream to drive

Yeah same as yours, however just sprung centre.

Trying to prolong the box going KAPOW as long as possible lol

Been needing a new clutch for a while, but holding off because of life tingz and adulting.

But... Being of Asian descent, I can't pass on a good sale, especially everyone else is selling it for $2k+ (JJR has it for $1799).

Really on the fence on this one, because the unsprung version of this is $1281 via Shitbox (Sparesbox) and the sprung version is quite a bit more (no idea why Shitbox doesn't offer them).

Ending up just sending it and getting the twin sprung organic. Mainly because I wanted the car to be nice to drive and didn't want to make it more of a shitbox than it already is.

I used to daily mine with a 6 puck button clutch. It drove (to me) like a factory clutch. Roll it off the mark all like normal, no jerking, no bucking.

Hilariously no one else could drive it without dialling up about 3,000rpm and chirping the tyres off the mark, or stalling it.

It's all about getting used to it.

Haha yep, everyone stalls mine. Even catches me off guard when I'm trying to reverse up my driveway into the driveway with a decline.

Hoping the twin plate sprung organic is a bit more forgiving for my old and tired body/legs/pelvis.

Yeah boiiiiiii

PB the karnt, then lost an IC clamp. Was also warned about go sideways 😂

He said he understands the track is hot and tyres let go in the heat.

Called it a day 4th session, came on the throttle on Lap 2 and lost boost. No idea where the passenger side IC Bluetoothed to, and it was getting quite hot so called it quits.

Waited for the other boys then we ended up at the pub for 3 hours lol.

My mate in the R33 shit box managed a 59s on his first track experience at Luddenham.

How much work to get you in the 55s? Or just more seat time?

I think just better tyres, I'm just on Hankook RS-4 tyres at the moment, which aren't really meant for the track.

Also, been mucking around with my suspension for sometime now and I'm really happy bow neutral it is. Car doesn't want to just oversteer or understeer like it did years ago.

Time to put on proper tyres one day and see what the shit box can do at SMSP, One Raceway and Luddenham again.

Yeah, you'll never get a reasonable time without spending on tyres, they ware worth more than all the other mods put together for lap times.

How's the garmin going? It is difficult to get data logging into the new car (because must retain standard ECU for tuning which can't do lap logging so need separate systems nekmennit), was thinking about using one of those in the meantime

It's great, fantastic bit of kit for the novice like me.

One thing it doesn't do, as @No Crust Racing pointed out before, is capture CANbus data. Would be great to get additional data from the car to overlay.

I'll download the video from my 56s for a laugh soon.

yeah basic OBD data would be nice, and cheap electronically to add, might be coming in future.

unfortunately in nissan at least, only a small subset is on the OBD can and all the interesting stuff like boost or oil pressure is on a proprietary CAN

It's easy to tap to the other CAN networks, and in addition, most of the stuff you'd want could be obtained by querying the data over UDS on the network available on the OBD2 port. That said, it's much nicer to just listen on the appropriate network to data that's being streamed rather than querying in steps using OBD2 or UDS.

what are you going to get?

I think depending how much left over cash I have after all the kids and wife (daycare, extra curriculum activities, toys, and whatever they drain from my account, wife's spending, etc.) I might go for the Advan A052 OR if the bank account says no, then Nankang CR-S.

    • Completely know where you're coming from. Its a double edged sword because I want to go to events and see cars because it would bring me a lot of excitement in high school and the P plater glory days being able to see a bunch of sick cars in one place but as the cool cars become unjustifiably expensive and all people can afford to modify and bring out is regular traffic cars it all becomes a bit less exciting.
    • I daily mine, have done so for 25 years. But I do not participate in the "car scene" outside of here. I don't like hanging out with the "car scene" very much. Too much yobbo, too much exposure (to yobbos, cops, etc).
    • I would say that 1200s are only good for about 500rwkW (at close to 100% DC). That's with a standard (for Australia, braked roller dyno) discount of 25% from engine power. Dose's 1480 should be good for a bit less than 650 rwkW, which aligns very very nicely with his ~70% duty at 437rwkW. I get within about +/-5rwkW of 635 approaching the calc from either end.
    • Unfortunately,  it feels like it's been on the decline for nearly a decade. Especially as wallet racing became popular with them(biggest wallet can pay off a car that wins). It seems like a different mindset kf ownership these days. But, hopefully people like yourself keep some of the skyline scene alive.
