Broadford will be interesting in the cars, a lot of quick changing altitudes and narrow sections :) the back straight drop off will feel like a roller coaster ride, a great track IMO.

It's a great place in a car. Plenty of direction change and undulation. Mini-Bathurst.

Thanks for this list!

I'm not sure if this thread is for SAU days only but Tampered are running an Australia Day session at Sandown in case anyone else is keen on going, I've signed up :)

Also is anyone organising Calder this year, can't see it one the list? It was a fun track (bar the speed barriers) and close to the city.

The hire fee for Calder is on par with Phillip Island, making it less appealing for clubs to hire. Calder also need to upgrade the safety as it doesn't meet modern requirements, CAMS won't insure it and AASA impose heavy restrictions.

Tampered track days at sandown have been pretty mixed. Sometimes its 100+ cars, sometimes a bit less.

Well Thursday was my first experience with them, can't really recommend it, way oversubscribed. There were 99 drivers listed on Natsoft and they split the 6th open wheeler group into two (!) so ended up having 7 groups, unreal. Also it was self-scrutineered which was way strange, never seen that before.

The highlight of the day was a white GT3 Cup Car, he was pretty much doing a lap and a half for eveyone else's one ... quickest car for the day by far at 1:12.7.

Anyhow, I scored several PB's but killed my bottom end in the process so kinda bittersweet. If anyone has a decent Neo DET lying around please let me know :)

I got down for a look in the morning and saw you punting around. Bummer about the bottom end, what's the go there? RB25 generally pretty good, no oil cooler?

Yeh the open wheel groups aren't happening again, so that won't happen. 100 at Sandown is pretty on par with others running track days there.

Cheers mate. Re engine, I suspect there was an underlying issue with the bottom end, either minor crack in the block or ring damage. The issue was diagnosed as a HG which was swapped in October, and we thought everything was fine but pushing it on the track revealed not. The car has a 19 row oil cooler, new Mishimoto alloy rad, power steering cooler etc. so it should have been ok, in theory.

100 cars at Sandown is cool but 7 groups is a bit much. Also there was a break in sessions around 1pm (but no lunch of any form of paid catering either) which didn't seem necessary. Anyway just my 2c..
