4 STUD R32 GTS brake questions

I've been reading thru the forum trying to get information on replacing brake components for my 4-Stud R32 sedan GTS.

Before anyone suggests, I am staying 4 lug and do not wish to go 5-stud!

From what I've gathered so far, I can use S13/240sx Rotors and pads for the front no problem,

My issue is trying to find REAR rotors and pads.

Because they are in-drum, I'm not sure what I can use/ cross reference to here in USA. Iv'e found that I will use non-turbo 300zx e-brake shoes but trying to replace rotors and pads as well.

Any Info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

If you are talking about replacing the parking brake linings they are all the same regardless of the rotor diameter.

Oops that applies to 5 stud...don't know about 4 stud.

Trying to buy this stuff in the US might drive you nuts.  There is some chance that the rears are the same as S13 stuff, but I admit my care factor for pissy 4-bolt stuff and sliding calipers is so low that I have never known, nor will I.

Your best bet is probably to look outside the US.  Look to Nengun, Amayama, etc.

My first question has to be - if you don't want to upgrade to 5-stud, why do you want to replace the brake components in the first place? I'm not an expert in S13 stuff, but I would expect that the brakes on a S13 would not be up to the standard / capacity of a R32 (even a GTS R32).

Since the bulk of the braking is taken by the front brakes, I see little point in changing / upgrading the rear brakes.

Yea I've been browsing thru YahooJapan Auctions, croooober ect.

But that's mostly all used brake components.

Replacing the e-brake shoes because of extreme wear, which I will use 300zx Project-Mu product. The rotors also should be replaced because of wear.

I will just need to test fit and do measuring to see what will work here state-side, just figured someone might know off the top of their head or have replaced their 4-lug components so I could order ahead of time before she goes on jack-stands.

Lots of info can be found for 5-stud, and going from 4lug to 5 lug, but I'm keen for staying 4stud.

thanks for the input.

Just looked on Amayama , never heard of that site!

Got the measurements of the rotors and going to cross it with something over here.

thanks for the information, very helpful! :1310_thumbsup_tone1:

Hi, good to see someone else keeping the 4 stud hubs. I have an R32 GTS 2 door here in Oz and have not gone the 5 stud conversion route as there is nothing I am interested pursuing in that direction. And I still have awesome fun with my car as a daily and at track days. Thats all that matters.

Anyway, this site I found very useful, select Brake Upgrades and you get a whole lot of useful info.

https://en.m.wikibooks.org/wiki/Nissan_240SX_Performance_Modification

Funny that this was from the US but helped me do a modest front brake upgrade here in Australia. I fitted s13 turbo calipers and went from the stock 257mm diameter rotors to 280mm. The s13 turbo stuff is a direct bolt on for your fronts. The calipers are still single pot but just a fraction bigger piston so no need to change your brake master cylinder. I currently have DBA (Disk Brakes Australia) T2 slotted rotors (DBA919S) and some QFM pads (QFM DB1232 A1RM) and the result is awsome. I know DBA sell in the US so check that. For pads just look for s13 turbo stuff you can get. Dunno if QFM stuff is available in the US.

You are right about the rears they are not s13. You will find that R32 and R33 4 stud rears are the same but dunno if you can source R33 stuff where you are. Check that link above as I can't remember if it covered rears  Unfortunately I have not found rotors from DBA to do my rears  Another Australian company, Rotors and Disks Australia (RDA) do rears (part number RDA 7692) so could try ebay??

Anyway good luck with it and enjoy your car.

    • I run 2 x 525 pumps on factory 8mm fuel lines     ... zero issues, staged of course    Your setup should work fine, all you need to do is find the restriction. A good aftermarket fuel regulator is always a good idea too. If it's not your regulator i'd be suspicious of your fuel tank breather and your tank pressurising. Next would be something with the fuel hat. Then blow out the fuel lines.
    • Update time...... Been a crazy busy time and a bit of a change here. Sold my 370z Nismo as wasn't using it much and wanting a 86/brz so wife can have some fun at the track again also to help with funding the s15 build.  As said last time booked a cruise to NZ. The place is great, drank lots of craft beer, eat food and visited some amazing places   The plains of rohan Before we left I finally got an electrician booked and the shed now has power. Been so good being able to use it at night and not running things off a 20m extension lead. Got stuck in last weekend and reorganised it and cleaned up a lot of stuff. A few more things to tidy over time but really good to work on now. There's 13x 10a GPO, 3x 15a GPO, 4 high bay lights and 5 LED batons so will never have an issue seeing or powering tools. 437344198_7178721088892834_15829362501196293_n.mp4   Work has restarted on the s15. Removed the rear cradle so could pull the fuel tank and finish emptying the stale e85 thats now been sitting for almost 4 years 🤮 Cleaned it out and let it dry. Removed the old lift pump and have reinstalled a new lower pressure pierburg pump with all new hose and lowered the pump to get it nice and low in the sump of the tank. Also got a an old diff cover cleaned up, work has a soda blaster so made quick work of it. Going to put a 4.11 ratio diff in with a fresh rebuild thats been reshimmed for now before buying a good diff centre. And had a big change with going back to full time work. Opportunity came up to apply for a race mechanic job so applied and got it, been some big days so far but definitely enjoying it and getting to work on some cool stuff and with some great equipment. Learning a lot on proper car setup and suspension so will be valuable for the s15. I'll be part of the travelling team form next round too. This weekend will get the fuel tank and system in, need to buy a rollover valve and mount that. Get cradle in with the diff and axles then make a shopping list to buy to finish that off then start looking at cooling setup and plan intercooler pipe routing. Work will definitely be slow now on the car but will be to a higher standard.  The 180sx hasn't sold so may be heading out to Morgan Park labour day weekend for a charity event to have some fun been almost 6 months since I've driven it so will be take time to get comfortable again.
    • I'll rent a fuel pressure tester soon and report back.
    • It has a separate fused 10ga wire running from the battery to the relay in the trunk. 10ga on the ground also.
    • Actually I did the fuel pump rewire 2 days after the issues started. Grinded away the paint and grounded it to the chassis behind the right panel in the trunk.
