If you know what you're doing then of course not, just don't aggressively ramp timing until you've past max torque. Even keep the timing values static till you see torque decay heavily.

And yes, have knock strategies in place with the factory knock sensors would be an advantage with your tune.

In terms of the copper spray, I can't see any negatives with using it.
