Not sure if this is the right forum...

Is anyone on here into 3d printing at all?

I have a small job I want to get done, and could go to a commercial business, but would prefer a skyline person cos they would know what the part is for etc.  And I know its not for free, thats fine.

I took a genuine 33 GTR indicator Surround from my buddy's car (left side), spent quite a lot of time measuring every single angle and dimension, then drew it up completely from scratch in solidworks. A friend has a 3D printer and we ran 1 prototype which fit but needed very slight adjustments. I then mirrored the surround and printed the right side which fit perfect. I will have to print 2 more for my S-roc bumper and may even offer to sell them online if people are in the need for those.

I'm also currently finalizing a single DIN triple gauge panel for 52mm gauges which are slightly angled towards the driver. The panel can fit under the HVAC unit, however I am missing the radio bracket as well so I need to make that first.

I will post pics once I get those made.

Got the panel finalized and printed. Wasn't too fussed with smoothing it out at this point because it was the prototype and going into my own car, but I'm super stoked with how nice it fits. They are angled perfectly when you glance at them from the driver's seat; not too low, not too high, and at least the left hand doesn't cover the 2 gauges from the left going right.

I might offer to make these and sell to people, but I'm unsure how many people would be interested in it, also considering I'm in EU so shipping would be a pain?

Let me know what you guys think :)

boosted international over these parts seems to have most gauges covered, he charges a bit of an extortianate amount but seems to have the market share, (i design and 3d print stuff myself hence my extortianate comment)

I haven't bought the gauge holders, but did buy R32 cup holders off him. Was like $40, thought that was reasonable.

Did he jack up his prices?

    • Definitely keep the thread alive mate. Following with great interest. Where are you located. Would be keen to check it out as you progress. Yes.. the Can performance GCU seems to be the go. A lot more sorted the the HTG so I hear.
    • G'day Guys,  Thought I'd chime in and see if I can revive this thread. So, two years ago, I inherited my late brother's R31 Skyline. Prior to my brother's passing, we had picked up an E90X DCT transmission for our FJ20 powered 1600 build. Anyway, the DCT swap has been on ice since then, because the plan was the use an HTG GCU, but a quick google search revealed many HTG customers dissatisfied with the brand and the support. I've recently discovered CAN Performance, who make a plug-in controller for the DCT and the 8HP gearboxes. Their customer base seen very happy with the performance of the units, some of whom have swapped over from the HTG GCU. So with a controller now available, I'm moving forward with the RB/DCT conversion. The RB is still the factory NA r31 motor, fitted with a VL turbo kit and ecu. I'm currently in the process of upgrading to a Haltech 2500 elite, including DBW throttle. I've also purchased the adapter kit, from the guys at 8speed. Anyway, hopefully the end result is worth the effort and cost. Initial rough estimates so far is around 15k, including the purchase cost of the gearbox. For those who want to follow the swap, I'll update this thread for time to time. I'll do more regular updates with pics and videos on FB and insta. Happy to share the link to those if requested.    Cheers,  Orlando

    • Hopefully you'll be ok, as your pressure plate is like 1.7ton of clamping force (assuming it's the 10" pressure plate you bought initially)
