Does 98ron contain ethanol?

Featured Replies

Im about to run a e30 mix of e85 and 98ron but i read that australian fuels specifically 98ron doesnt contain ethanol so on the calculator when it says pump ethanol percentage do i just put 0 or is this statement even true? And if it is true i assume i dont need to test any 98ron pumps.

91 95 98 have 0% ethanol.

E10 aka 94RON has 10% ethanol in NSW, no idea if it's different in SA, being Australia, everything seems to be fking different state to state.

E10, by very definition, has 10% E in it.

I was referring to the final octane level achieved once 10% ratio of ethanol is added.

I think it's the same. It all comes from the same shithole refinieries in SE Asia.

94 RON E10 beats the E10 we get out here, which starts at 87 AKI/~91 RON and goes up to all of 91 AKI/~95 RON. E0 doesn't even exist at most servos and when it does it's usually appallingly expensive and no more than 88-90 AKI.

We had this blend that uses 98RON + 10% Ethanol which brought it to 100RON.

It's no longer available anymore unfortunately.

Lucky for that, because putting ethanol in fuel only lowers the bulk cost of fuel if it's in 91 ;)

Add it to 98, 85% of it even and it quintuples in price. Strange physics.
f**k you United, Gouging c***ts.

I remember the days when E85 was priced in according to the $ per km outcome.

Sure E85 was about 35% cheaper, but you also lost about 35% range... now it's fked..

That's the thing, they still add it and it makes fuel cheaper, implying adding 10% of it drops the cost of 91 by what, 5c a liter?

I remember when it was barely half the price of 98. Because you know, 85% of what is in the fuel is way cheaper than 91 fuel is by volume.

Actually, ethanol has probably never been cheaper, on a tax free basis, than petrol.

With fuel excise being what it is, and only being levied on the hydocarbon component, not the ethanol component, and ethanol for non-drinking purposes not being subject to liquor excise - E85 was cheaper, but not because the combustible liquid itself was particularly cheaper.
