How to tell real GT-R from fake?

Recommended Posts

How do you tell a real GT-R from a fake, Besides the GT-R symbol on the dash. I'm looking at having one imported from japan I need reassurance that it's not one modified to look like a GT-R. Is there some defineing interior or exterior or engine detail I can see in photos, or what about serial number? Thanks guys.

Check engine - RB26DETT

Check numbers in engine bay IE - BNR32

Others would be the obvious, check the guards, attessa motor etc

if it has all of the above you can be 99.9999% sure its a gtr as no one would bother doing all that to a gtst

RB26DETT

check to see if the guards are flared

the interior has the GTR Dash which includes a 10K tacho and front torque gauge

the 3 gauges are in the centre console

the GTR seats

transfer case behind the gearbox

the model number BNR32 printed on the ORIGINAL build plate

that's all I can think of atm so if it doesn't have EVERYTHING on that list, question the integrity of it

btw, that's for an R32 :)

The torque split guage is one of the three (3) centre console gauges (on an R32/33), not on the dash gauge (unless it's a GTS-4).

Pretty sure the tacho goes to 11k rpm too

We have a problem telling the difference?...and I thought it was only a Lancer/Evo thing :)

If you can't tell the difference between the genuine GT-R or Evo, your not a real enthusiast is what I say ;)

Seeing as hes getting it imported its most likely that he wont be able to view the car in person :P

If you are worried about getting a gtst instead of a gtr then ide be questioning the importing company/auction people
