Found this whilst browsing the yahoo auctions, which is always is a bit of fun to turn up strange and weird creatures when you're bored..

Have a look at this crazy R32

what is it with japanese and tacky add-on wheel flares ??

its the oldschool flare kit to let you fit GTR rims under a GTS. Its basically inspired by the KPGC10 thru to the 210 where they all had similar flares on the body to accomodate wider rims while racing.

They're cool... i dig em, and the ones in those pics is the tame version, there's even wilder flares.

They look great on the old school C10, 210 and AE86. On the R32 though? Ekk.

This is what surprises me about you all...perhaps not you then. Your all so into the Japanese motorsports culture and their cars and think you know it really well when you actually don't! Find a photo online and just brag the shit out of it!

Maybe you will sleep better tonight, knowing that most cars that wear those flares are drag racing cars! Because flares are illegal on street cars over here even though people have them.

I don't care whether I am "keeping up with the ages".. or the latest in jap chic.. they look shithouse.
Bwahhahahaha! Gordon, Troys just trying to stir shit up... he must be bored at work!

But yeah, it's not just Japan... this stuff has been going on for ages, and not just on Skylines. Name just about any Japanese car worth modding and some fool has put 11 inch wide wheels on it with those bolt-on over fenders.

Think early 70's GTS racing in Japan and you're getting close:

:) yeah, the older style classics such as the Z's, c210, etc it suits.. but its just a little wrong on the 32 there.

no they basically are.. the old ones were made with aluiminum, these days they're FRP (fibreglass).

Speaking of wider rims.... Rezzeh, can you puhleeeeeeeese     find out for me what width my rims have to be and what offset, so they sit japstyle on my BN Sports widebody kit? (not ozstyle so they're an inch inside the fenders)... and not bozokou style where they sit an inch outside either :D

The r32 in the first pics look terrible.

I think they dont look a to bad if done properly, except these ones are slightly different. They go right to the bottom of the car.

That desperately needs bigger wheels. What's the point of widening the arches but having puny rims?
