Well, short-list. DR30 wouldn't been nice, but I don't think the guys would understand. A shame, since old-school Skylines are horn.

1. Flite (R32 GT-R)

2. magic1 (R33 w/ 'gate)

3. R33_Cam (R34 GT-t)

4. sileighty (obvious)

5. 13_devil (R33 GTS-t)

6. BoOsTeD_RB26 (R32 GT-R)

7. Sneaker (R32 GT-R)

Cheers to the others who offered their cars for the cause. Shame we don't have more people, but I'm trying hard enough to keep it hush-hush at school.

Just need to see how much ($$) you guys think would be fair for a lift there and one back, though we probably won't need as many cars on the way back if some of you can't make it at the midnight finish for the ball. Can just pile into the back of cars, 'cause the exit doesn't matter as much. Lest someone is up for leaving a pair of marks on the blacktop outside the Sheraton, of course!

its cool Matt, i understand :)

it's tough to like a skyline as old as mine (and not many do) but when i go out cruisin' with my mates' S15s, civics, R33s, integras etc etc it does surprise them a bit. but it's not 'suit'ed for a ball (excuse the pun)...

post some pics of it aye...

Bah, can't believe I missed a GT-R. Went through from the start of the thread to the end, thinking I'd nabbed all the GT-R's; damn! Well, if you're still in your corner, we've got another who'd like to come along. Makes a grand total of eight, 7 cars from here, one from outside.

Short-list updated

Planning to PM each of you in the next week or so, to organise times, swap contact details and find out who wants what ($$).

Well, I feel like you at least deserve something for your time, 'specially since you did it for nothing last year. Anyway, cheers Paul. How many rwkW/hp is the car pushing?

not sure. last time it was tuned it was 220hp but i have played with the safc since then and all i get is big backfires and it feels a little less sluggish.

Wow, what a cool way to show up to ur ball... 8 skylines.. nice..

My sisters yr 12 ball is this weekend... she had trouble getting a limo (all taken up). I said that i should beable to gather a few skylines for her... but she ended up getting a limo some how. Gez... I would deffently choose the gtr over a limo.. but thats me... my sis isnt as much as a rev head as me, maby cos shes blonde and im a red head??

Have fun at ur ball elithrar :(

Well, seems mikey has disappeared off the face of the earth, so I'm one car down, and still waiting for Flite (R32 GT-R) to respond. In any case, is there anyone up for filling in for Mikey?

well matt just go back thru tha thread plenty of offers most jus us crappy 33s tho i still willing ta do wine red 33 gtst for fuel and a brewsky or two afta if yas get desperate nuff

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
